Black Crime Statistics and How We Can Help

I am concerned about these Black crime statistics, see http://www.amren.com/store/colorcrime.htm What can we do to help African-Americans?

Republicans say that their crime rate is high because they are not Christian enough and because Liberalism teaches them to be irresponsible.

Democrats believe that their high crime rate is the result of a covert conspiracy between every White person to hold Blacks down.

Applying the above two principles, what can be done to help the African-American community rise from such dispare and destruction?

Slightly OT, I suppose, but can't help it: the headline "Black Crime Statistics" got me thinking... (which doesn't happen THAT often, btw ). Why does the U.S. still keep racial/ethnic census data and statistics? Is there an actual (and acceptable) explanation behind the practise or is it just a relic from older and uglier times? I mean, a USAian is a USAian, blue-eyed, green-eyed or brown-eyed, right?

Hey I am a black democrat and I know plenty of black democrats but I don't know any who think the black "high crime rate is the result of a covert conspiracy between every White person to hold Blacks down." Not a single one just imagine that! So I can't imagine how critical that theory is but it isn't based in the reality of Black thought.

Is that so? Because every person of African descent that I have talked to say that their problems are the result of a history of White oppression that exists to this very day: not one of them even considered the possibiity of blaming themselves for their problems. I am sure there are exceptions, but this is the general opinion of the African-American community. And the fact that 90% of Africans vote Democrat is real telling.

P.S. I am not saying the Republican Party is any better: I only vote for Third Parties.

ETA: Also there is big difference between pointing out that problems in the black community stem from slavery and its' aftermath to "Democrats believe that their high crime rate is the result of a covert conspiracy between every White person to hold Blacks down."

I serlously doubt any Black person told you that.

I agree with Douglas. The problem is equal opportunity, Brown -vs- Board, grandfather clauses, legacy, etc., it didn't go as Douglas invisioned.

Therein lies the problem. The government in the U.S. cannot get past race based information. That's why I pretty much put down either other or various. I'm a mixed breed, though my skintone screams whiter than milk. I really wish that we would be fortunate enough to move pass our racial blinders and determine a person's character from their inner workings. God bless.

I agree with Douglas. The problem is equal opportunity, Brown -vs- Board . . .

Brown was a fiasco, albeit a well meaning one, because it didn't address the issue of equal opportunity (which itself is an impossibility, the best we can achieve is a bias toward equality in the eyes of the law)

Let's see: what can be done about crime in and of itself?

How about well funded schools, equal opportunity for all racial groups, universal health care, lowering the gap between the rich and poor, etc. (The list could go on indefinitely.) Considering that issues like this have so many factors that influence the outcome I don't think trolling with links and asking what the crime rate is among Chinese Americans.
