I've always had dreams in colour. But there was one dream that I had about two months ago in black and white. It was a generally very positive dream and spoke about something lost being restored unexpectedly and telling me to hold onto and cherish it more. I did ask the Lord if it was from Him and He said yes. But I can't understand the reason for the change in colour. What do black and white dreams generally mean for the believer?

I generally dream in black and white. I only see color when the Lord wants me to know that something is a particular color. Since everything else is in B&W, the color stands out and is noticeable. I imagine that the Lord had you dream in B&W because he wanted the "black" and the "white" to stand out to you. Black is generally seen as a contrast to white or the opposite of white. Biblically black often symbolizes death or sin or famine and white is generally a symbol of purity and righteousness, though sometimes it is pictured as false righteousness. You said that your dream was about something lost being restored, so there you have two contrasts - lost and found; like black and white. So, perhaps that is the reason behind it.

That's an excellent question because I never really thought about it until you mentioned this. I've dreamed in color as well as black and white. Both dreams were on the same level so I don't have anything to compare to be able to tell the difference. Stay Blessed!

Your dream is a little perplexing. You write about it in very general terms,
and you mention that it spoke to you. I would wonder who spoke with you in your dream.
If your dream was cloaked, meaning that you could not see the talker it is most likely
from the Other. So Lets test it. Does it point to the Act of Jesus which leads to the
Father or does it point to an emotion of say: cherish. The Holy Spirit is your comfort
it dwells within you and does not come to you in dreams, because it is already within you and does not come and go. I am also wondering who you asked, Jesus taught use to pray direct to the Father, " Our Father "
" opening of Our Father " is the phone number per say. This is also a security code, as your prayer will
go direct to the Father as no other source can intercept it. Jesus did not teach to pray to him or
to the Holy spirit, Dead Creation ie saints or the title lord. If you pray, " lord, is this true? ", than any spirit
can intercept. " Yes it's true my child ".
I only pray to the Father and I start it out with " Our Father ".
In the past, I prayed to the created image of jesus. the crucifix and cross. to a ten commandments plaque, holding a lucky penny. the titles, lord, god, christ.
But since I entered into the Temple, I have a clear understanding of spiritual psych warfare.
and avoid those mistakes.
Remember Satan thinks that he is God and that you should call him lord. If you say the word lord, He will
be glad to pick up the phone, YESSSSSSSSSSSSS, how can I be of Service.
I personally think that creation does not dream in Black and White, but your dream may have been cloaked
of it's colors to confuse you. This is called camouflage. If you friend John Paul Jackson is correct, This
may have been a sign that you were involved in some sort of spiritual warfare and you set up a defense.
But then you excepted the emotions of positive.

When you are one with the Father you are not lost and you were not found unexpectedly, Your were saved
by a Long Drawn Plan, ie God's Will. Will of the Father through the Act of Jesus.
Once you are one with the Father, you do not need to be restored, Jesus said " It's Finished ".
Next time when you dream like this or any other dream you can ask the image or voice, it's name and
business.
So go to 1John4 and test what I say: " I say Jesus came in the Flesh ".

I'm looking at this from a more practical vantage: Perhaps the dream was black and white to make it easier to remember, or, conversely, to, set it apart from other dreams—so that you'd refer to it more often because it stands out?

Just some suggestions: sometimes we can over generalize symbols, colors, etc., and make broad applications where they don't apply. It's great the Lord told you the dream was from Him. That is a wonderful thing to know. Have you inquired of the Lord, why the black and white images?

Probably a dumb question, huh?

PEACE,
JWN

Could mean, in this case, the truth is in black and white.
