Now this is ominous. I hope its not symbolic of anything.

Although the birds got free - they took a beating.
Creepy.

Especially the crow attacking [a crow is the symbol of death] the dove broke free. No news on their condition.

If any symbolism can be attributed to it, I would say that the Doves represent the Church and the other birds the malign forces currently engulfing our society and indeed the Church itself.

Important to note though that the Doves eventually broke free, which is exactly what will happen to the Church.

I don't recall that; it must have happened after one of them simply perched on the ledge and I lost interest.

Could be something as simple as the birds feeling predatory that day. I've seen birds fight for food in my own backyard, especially the crows. It isn't anything unusual.

As a bird watcher, I found this odd behavior.

Generally, Seagulls and Crows are attacked by other birds, because they're scavengers, which steel eggs and baby birds from the other bird's nests.

I've never seen gulls or crows attacking other birds, for most of the smaller birds can out maneuver them in flight anyway.


Is it an omen ?

Other than God, who knows.

As far as I could tell, hardly anybody saw it (at least, I didn't, and there was no general reaction in the Square). In fact, the camera zoomed in on one of them for quite some time; it was just sitting there on the ledge. The headlines which say "while thousands [hundreds] of children watch" are a little bit over-the-top

I see seagulls daily and they never bother the other birds. Crows can be agressive.

I found the whole scenario to be a bit prophetic.
