  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

okay I went to the Billy Graham mission that is in Dallas/Ft Worth this week.  It was awesome.  Jars of Clay was there along with DC talk and Krik Franklin.  They all played some of their old songs and was really reverant and worshipful.  Billy gave a very short message and then we had the altar call.  It was about as long as the message.

I should tell you that Texas stadium was full.  And there must of been many thousands outside because when Billy Graham mentioned them we could hear them screaming from inside the stadium.  I do not have an actual figure but I am thinking it was around 70K there or so because there was 5000 on the field area and I think the stadium seating holds around 60K and then all those outside. But I will do another post when I know.

But I am off topic.  Many came down tomight and thousands have made decisions for Christ this week.  Billy said that over 3,000 had made decisions before the night began.  The mission ends tomorrow night so please pray for it.

The gaither vocal band and Michael W Smith will be there tomorrow night and Billy will be there too.  But most importantly God will be there.

Oh and I almost forgot please pray that the ones making these decisions will stick with them.  Many do notafter events like this so please pray for them.  Also pray that they will find support and help for Christian growth and pray for the churches in the DFW area tat they will take up the task ofdiscipling these new converts and the ones that rededicated their lives.

Praise God!

Yes, it was awesome. We went Thursday night and there was only 37 thousand that night. There was Cademon's Call, and someone else there, along with former President George Bush Sr. That was a real treat as well, he gave a good testimony.

The actual figure for Saturday was 81,000, which was a record breaking number. They just said on the news that tonights was 83,000.  I was actually driving home that night and didn't think twice about driving past the stadium....it took me 3 hours to get home. I was frustrated at first while I was sitting there, but once I pasted the traffic and realized it was all for Billy Graham I was overwhelmed. I thought it was awesome. Although I was a little sad becuase not long after I passed ALL those cars, the radio announced that they had closed the parking lot becuase they reached capacity. I just wondered how many non christians didn't get in. Hopefully they found another way in.

And, yes we really need to pray for the ones that gave their lives to Christ, that they will hold true to their commitment.

Yes Blackhawk, Billy IS "The Man"! And isn't it amazing that we were ALL called to do exactly what he is doing. Of course we can not all do it on as large a scale but we can do it even if only one on one.

John 15:16: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

true but it is such an encouragement to me to see such a public ministry that has done so much good and has not had any scandals.  I try to witness to my coworkers through telling them I am a Christian and then living the example.  then I wait for God to make those times when I cna discuss the Faith with others there.  for some I am the only Christianity they see.  Therefore I try to set the best example I can through the stregnth of God.  That and always being in prayer is very important to me.

Thanks JesusIsLife for the statistics.  I am so glad that I got to go to the conference and I pray that the ones who could not get in will still find the faith.  I know I can rest in the fact that God is in control and He will make it so that they have a chance to hear how much He loves them also.

It's too bad that 90% of the "converts" from Billy Graham Crusades fall away within one year... :(

They try to keep them in church, but most will just walk away. Polls indicate that these people either got "caught up" in the emotion of his preaching and went down to the field but didn't understand what they were doing, or they went down out of curiosity about what happens down on the field, or they wanted the free gift you get for signing the card.

Billy Graham's messages are most effective on people who are already church-goers, statistically.

I thought that you all said once a person believes in Jesus Christ they can't fall away or lose the salvation.  Are you now saying that those who believe can be lost?

Please do not turn this into a debate.  I think we all should pray for these new converts and we should all pray for the churches in the DFW area (and many travelled from other places like Bossier city, LA) that they will disciple these people.  That was the main point of this thread with a secondary point of how much of a blessing Billy Graham's ministry is.  All please pray for the requests above and pray for the ones who did not know what they were doing or went down there just to get the free stuff or wanted to see what was going on.   They all need prayer.
