they are not ridiculous so there is that...
and i suppose then we can stop sending them so much money?
It is a ridiculous situation when the U.N. General Assembly adopts 20 anti-Israel resolutions in 2016, while passing just four for the rest of the world.

We should stop sending the PA money until it recognizes the Jewish State of Israel. After all, there is no hope of a two state solution until that happens. Maybe after that we can lean on Israel about the settlements. I believe the settlements only exist because Israelis are disillusioned and no longer believe Palestinians will EVER accept Israel and so are going ahead with plans for a single state solution.

So true, ken.

Sadly, you could say it 20 times, and people would still be deaf.

It's a very bold move. Doesn't that violate some UN resolution? It's probably going to be globally denounced?
Dosen't it violate the fact that Israel's capital is Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem?

Last I heard, the US was significantly delinquent in it's dues to the UN. I may be wrong, but IIRC, you guys don't actually send them money.

Israel has declared Jerusalem to be its Capital. All of Jerusalem has been annexed. It does not have the status of an occupied territory. Israel has the right to establish a capital city anywhere within its borders that it likes.

But where is the actual, real world place-where-the-politician-and-administrators-meet capital?

Hi armoured,

Look it up. It's Jerusalem where the seat of government is maintained. It is the location of parliament, the High Court, and Prime Minister's office, as well as most major ministries and national institutions, and has been for all but a few months of the country's existence. When foreign leaders visit, it is the streets of Jerusalem that are disrupted by their motorcades.

God bless you,
In Christ, ted

That has something to do with the UN resolution; In 50 Jerusalem was recognized as the capital of Israel by the Knesset and the PM at the time, but the rest of the world agreed in some sense (whether by actual resolution or not I can't remember) not to recognize Jerusalem, and instead Tel-Aviv. It has something to do with illegal occupation in the eyes of the UN. So by moving the embassy the US would seem to be breaking that resolution and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital which would by default cause the US to no longer view the presence of Israeli forces in Jerusalem to be an illegal occupation. So the US would be siding with Israel in the conflict in a roundabout way.

But, I'm not entirely sure of the political landscape of the situation; it seems a bold move is all I can say.
