K, here's some background info before I pose the question.

During my recent, unfortunate marriage, my ex decided he hated the only cable company in our neighborhood and therefore our DVD collection grew. In the meanwhile, he also decided that TV shows were all boring and uninteresting. We mostly went by his decisions at the time. Also, I worked around 50+ hrs a week. So, my sparse TV time was spent on a movie here or there.

To sum up, I got out of the habit of watching "TV." Although I've been on my own for a while now, I never got back "into" the regular habit of watching TV shows.

Now, here's the question.

What is BB? And, could you describe it?

Where is a nice, but not over-the-top Seafood or Surf-n-Turf we can take MH's parents to for dinner?
Oh goodness, I don't know as I can't recall going to a nice seafood place that wasn't on the pricey side. A lot of nice places have seafood dishes, as I seem to order salmon a lot (it's one of my faves). If you want more Cajun style, The Boiling Pot is fun. They have creyfish, crabs, shrimp, etc and dump it on the paper covering the table, but that doesn't sound like what you're looking for. We have the generic Joes Crabs and Pappadeaux as well. If someone were coming and eating seafood, I'd take them to Trulucks, but it is pricey (as in three dollar signs on Citysearch pricey). Oh you know what, Castle Hill is good. They have some seafood but they have other stuff too. And their brie with some kind of chutney in it is a great appetizer. If they were worthy of a super expensive mean, Trulucks. But for good food that is nice but not going to overdraw my account, I'd take them to Castle Hill.

Did you have fun last night?
Yes, we ate Indian food.

Big Brother is a reality TV show a la Survivor I think (I've never watched Survivor). You get like 13 people who are strangers to live in this swanked out house on a sound lot somewhere in California. Each week they have at least twp competitions, sometimes more. Head of House and Veto competitions are every week.

Head of House gets their own bedroom and bathroom, some goodies from home, and a more luxurious week. It usually lasts for a week, though they will have some tricky weeks where they mix things up. HoH also nominates two people for eviction.

Veto competition exists so the winner can veto one of the eviction nominations (or not use the veto and keep it the same). Whomever wins the Veto cannot go up for eviction in place of the removed nominee. Usually one of the people up for eviction tries to get it to save themselves, though sometimes the house will actively try to get it and remove someone to put someone else up and "backdoor" them by giving them no fighting chance to save themselves.

They also have Food Competitions. In previous years, losers had to eat PB&J, but this year its something called Slop, which is apparently a tasteless, stinky, thick type of oatmeal that makes you really gassy and poopey. Food Competitions range from being the whole house working together or teams working against each other.

There are Luxury Competitions as well. This is when the house works together to accomplish whatever their competition ask of them to "unlock" some luxury. It has been anything from a work out room, a hot tub, a trampoline, and so forth.

Each week someone is voted out. All the houseguests except the HoH get to vote (HoH breaks a tie) on the nominees and kick one out of the house. After a while, the kicked out guests go to some majorly nice mansion in some exotic location where they wait until the finale. They make up what is called The Jury and vote on the last two players to decide the winner.

That's quite different from the UK BB.
What type of people make up the housemates?
Yes it is different. You also have to pay to watch the live feeds on the internet, they won't show it randomly on TV. They edit it together for the TV appearance so it isn't boring. And the American version waited much longer before anyone had sex in the house than did the UK version.

Do you like the cable company here?
What is your cable company? I use a small one that is only in a few cities in central Texas.

You make tv in the USA sound tame
Compared to British tv there!
I think American TV IS rather tame compared to telvision in Europe. Just look at Dutch programs!

Did you watch any TV when you were in the UK and if so, did anything strike you as different or odd?
Yes of course I did, both times I've been there. I also watch several of the shows they broadcast on BBC America. As for different and odd, I saw Teletubbies before I went to the UK, and that's pretty odd and different I say, I mean they have TVs on their tummies! There was some weird show that I saw the first time I went called Yanky Panky I think. It was making fun of Texas or something, but in a totally outrageous only could be on British TV kind of way. It was hilarious. I like the miniseries/dramas which are really just soap operas. I enjoy that many of them only last for a bit and then don't come back. But most of the shows I watched were just good shows and not really odd or different.

What would you like me to ask you next?
If I want a snuggle. But in a creative way of asking.

When will Cat59 start her own FTB thread?
Oh, you know what happens when people ask ME about others starting their own FTB threads.

Thanks for the recommendations Toe...

Would you like to come to Moonlight_Singer's birthday gathering on Saturday (next, not today)?
Did you eat at any of those places? If not, I have to take you to Castle Hill sometime, it is one of my faves. And am I really invited to the birthday gathering? What sort of gathering is it and what is an appropriate gift?

How many people have you snuggled with today?
Well I am staying in a hotel this weekend to pretend I went somewhere exciting when it is really just 5 minutes from my house. My best friend stayed with me last night and there was only one bed, so if sharing a bed counts, I snuggled with her. Otherwise, no one in person, but tons online :) *snuggle*

Will you start an FTB thread for Cat?
If upon finishing the rest of my checking in on threads I've subscribed to and check to see if she has one I discover she does not, then it is a possibility.

OOOOH ITS RAINING FINALLY!!!!!!!

Thank you for starting a thread for me...
Do you like to walk in the rain without a coat or umbrella?

Anytime dear Cat. It depends on if I have anywhere to go, how heavy the rain is, how cold it is, and my mood. But sometimes a good walk in the rain where I can get drenched is quite refreshing.

EEP!

Have you just been visited? :holy:
Yes and I'm not sure if I should be honored or scared hehe. (The Boo! would be a reason to be scared, not like Erwin is scary).
