So, when the Bible says these people saw God, they're not really seeing God, they're just...sort of seeing him, I guess. Even though none of the passages mention that at all.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We call these "theophanies."
When God manifested Himself to [a] man, He did it "veiled" in some form, so we couldn't see Him in His full essence.
Examples:
- Abraham was visited by three angels.
- Jacob wrestled with an angel.
- Moses saw a burning bush.
- Moses saw the hinderpart of God.
- The Israelites saw a pillar of cloud by day, which became a pillar of fire by night.
- Nebuchadnezzar saw the "form of a fourth man."
- Belshazzar saw a hand, writing on a wall.
- Ezekiel saw a mechanical device of some kind.

A timeless question from the early 2000's.
Yes. We measure "time" as a rate of decay. We move sand to the top of
the hourglass and watch as it attempts to reach the lowest form of energy
possible. Similar with radiation, we measure it's decay to "see" time.
So if God existed before "decay" then He would have been in a timeless
state. Christians believe that God was/is in this timeless state. We may
have been in this state when Adam was created, but we are not now.
When Adam turned away from God, the clock began ticking. On that
day, "Thou shalt surely die" became true.
That is when time began for humans and the rest of creation as well.
This solves your infinite dilemmas. As for the "source" of God, again, this
"source" idea is tied to a "time table" which does not exist for God. He is
is the realm of "always was, always will be" as we might describe it.
