Um ... you wanted two major groups ... I gave you two major groups:

You gave me two species. If you'd like a rundown on the differences between Homo and Australopithecines generally, you'd see a lot more.

Australopithecus and Homo are two different genuses, with more missing links between them than I have posts.

It's "genera." And as you see, the differences between late Australopithecines and early Homo are very slight, which is exactly what evolutionary theory predicts. But as you learned, A. garhi is indeed transitional between A. afarensis and H. habilis.

So you see, there are always transitional forms known between major groups. In this case, there are transitionals known even between species.

Think about it.

Since evolution is rife with holes (missing links), then as the universe expands, those holes get bigger and bigger, and kinds (genera) grow farther and farther apart.

It's basic physics.

You gave me two species.
As well as two genera.

But if it's confusing, then let's call it what the Bible calls it and circumvent the confusion: "kinds."

Cool school.

Use A. garhi then.

You asked for two major groups, I gave you two major groups.

I'd love to spend an hour with him on the John Ankerberg show.

I'd school him on what it means to say SCIENCE CAN TAKE A HIKE and about ten of our doctrines: including KJVO, dispensationalism, creatio ex nihilo, and embedded age.

You and I have share a lot of good times together, especially when we were on the now defunct General Apologetics board.
Remember this? We both got "crucified" on the FSTDT site

At least my bro Phil, "AV1611VET" joined me on there also

The fact that I don't know that much about it does not bother me in the least

We will submit for a larger connect-the-dot game to resolve this issue.

As well as two genera.

Nope. Two species. A. afarensis and H. habilis. Those are species, not genera.

But if it's confusing, then let's call it what the Bible calls it and circumvent the confusion: "kinds."

The Bible "bird kind" includes birds and bats. The Bible "fish kind" includes fish and whales. You've confused a functional classification with biological classification. Not that the Hebrews were wrong to classify things by their functions; it's just not biology.

Cool school.

Use A. garhi then.

I did. You gave me two species (although I asked for major groups) and I showed you a transitional form.

You asked for two major groups,

And you gave me two species. In this case, it backfired; the transitions are so well known, we even have transitions between two species in many cases.

What genus is A. afarensis?

It's a species. In binomial nomenclature, a species is described by a species name (lowercase) and a genus (capitalized).

To say that A. afarensis is a genus is like saying that Topeka, Kansas is a state. You know this.

Good thing that most people aren't proud of ignorance.

Otherwise we would all still live in caves wondering how fire works.

Ya -- today we spend our time in court suing for this, that, and the other thing.

You can't turn on TV today without seeing an IF YOU'VE BEEN INJURED BY [whatever], CALL THE LAW OFFICES OF [whomever] IMMEDIATELY commercial.

I remember a comic strip that showed a husband & wife looking out the window, and a tornado is bearing down on them.

The conversation went something like this:

H: Quick! Down in the cellar!
W: Can't! Radon gas!
H: Then get in the attic!
W: Can't! Asbestos!
H: Then let's hide behind the couch!
W: Cant! Lead paint on the walls!

So they just sat on the couch and hoped for the best.

Perhaps he should take a look outside the US of A. Most of the world is nothing like he describes. Life in a fishbowl.

Yep! This! ^^ I tend to avoid the US in my worldly travels for exactly this reason...
