Well a couple points
1. I haven't seen Democrats, or liberals in general, anywhere suggesting Hunter has done anything seriously wrong. 10-1 they make claims like "witch hunt", "GOP attack", and "no evidence"!
I don't know about Democrats, but turn on any of that "leftist media" and you certainly will see candid remarks--and jokes--about Hunter Biden. And frank talk about whatever Hunter my have done that is criminal should be taken seriously and he should face consequences. Because of the rule of law.
2. What role Biden had in all this is still being investigated. He was getting checks from Hunter and others from the "proceeds" of these sketchy foreign dealings, was allowing Hunter to use his name, participated in phone calls with "business partners" of Hunter, etc.
So far those investigations have turned up with nothing.
If Joe Biden is complicit with any of Hunter's shenanigans, then he should face consequences, legal consequences. I believe in the rule of law, and that nobody in this country is above the law. And I doubt you'll find liberals/leftists/progressives saying otherwise.
Because, again, it isn't the left that believes certain people are above the law, it is the right that argues against the rule of law.
I you or I did the things Hunter did, we would be in prison. If our family members had been involved like Joe was, they would probably be fined or in prison as well
What did Joe do? That's the problem, there's no evidence he's done anything criminal. Under the American justice system we aren't supposed to send people to prison unless they've committed a crime. The key phrase is "supposed to", the American criminal justice system doesn't exactly always work in practice as it is supposed to on paper. But at least on paper people are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
You are, of course, free to believe Joe Biden is guilty purely as a matter of opinion. But that investigation has turned up with nothing, and I have my suspicion won't. If, however, they do find something real and concrete, then Joe Biden should face consequences.
I don't believe a president should be immune from criminal prosecution.
If Americans want to tolerate oligarchs who are above the law, it says something pretty sad about our country.
I agree. And it's not a question of if, because that is how America is. And it's been this way for a while now. Since 2016 it's just gotten worse.
