As is often explained, they consider the charges to be bogus. They consider it unlikely that any of it would have been leveled against him if he hadn't decided to run for president again. And they're determined to show that such tactics as they see it are not going to work. He gets convicted and they say "up yours" by pouring in extra donations. They see supporting Trump no matter what is thrown at him, as their way of fighting against a corrupt system.
