What is scary about either Biden or Trump is that either could wind up nearly incapacitated and, as was done with Reagan, the White House would keep it hidden.Who knows?
I knew a woman his age who suddenly died from a heart attack followed by a stroke….anything can happen at that age, and I can only pray for his health and safety.
Why would they cheer a man with obvious cognitive impairment being replaced by a potentially competent candidate?Interesting that I don't see any of the main Republican voices/sources - cheering.
It is hard for me to imagine that if Trump announced that he will drop out of the race for the 2025 term, that there would not be even one major Democratic voice cheering.
In one of Trump's speeches in the past week he was lamenting that Biden was getting pushed out of the race by his own party.
Women voted for Hillary over Donald by 15 points. She also received about 2 million more votes than Trump. That didn’t happen with Hillary Clinton.
If he resigned - effective immediately due to "Covid exhaustion" or something - then Kamala is the President! Not a potential candidate. An Incumbent President! That moves her changes up the dial a bit doesn't it?If he decides he truly can't continue -- if, for example, COVID hits him hard -- he can resign in favor of his vice-president. At the moment, it's not obvious that he should do that. One bad TV appearance doesn't make him unfit for office. But we'll see how his current illness goes.
The DNC has already scheduled a virtual roll call on AUgust 9th I believe to formally make a nomination before the convention. And I don't think it's likely anybody is going to run against her with Biden already endorsing her and the other endorsements she's getting. If he resigned - effective immediately due to "Covid exhaustion" or something - then Kamala is the President! Not a potential candidate. An Incumbent President! That moves her changes up the dial a bit doesn't it?
As it is - how long is the process for her to be nominated? How likely is it that someone would run against her?
Him being fit to run and him realizing he can't win are not the same thing. For all of those on this forum who have been telling us Biden was fit to run and there was nothing to the charge Biden was cognitively impaired what say you now that Biden had stepped down?
Because they also believe he can't win. It's similar to how several candidates in the primaries in 2020 were convinced to drop out nad endorse Biden for the good of the party.Apparently under pressure from his own party.

I believe they are. He can’t win primarily because he is not able to function. That became clear to many after the debate. There is no way to spin this. He is not able to do the job, or win.Him being fit to run and him realizing he can't win are not the same thing
No, he is not able to win because people believe he is not able to function. Not the same thing.I believe they are. He can’t win primarily because he is not able to function
Perception and reality are not the same thing.. That became clear to many after the debate. There is no way to spin this. He is not able to do the job, or win.
Keep telling yourself this. You are wrong on this. No, he is not able to win because people believe he is not able to function. Not the same thing.
Perception and reality are not the same thing.
Because with him dropping out of the race, he's just made himself a lame duck. He can muddle through the next few months. So, from what I understand, Biden endorsed Harris, but he freed the delegates who can cast their
votes for someone other than Harris. The DNC convention is going to be an open convention
and it could mean someone other than Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination.
Also, if Biden isn't fit to run for re-election, how is it he's able to remain as president?
This is how it's been presented to him; there is no clear path any more for him to win the race. You are assuming he's not fit to run for President. My read is more that this is an acknowledgment that he can't win.
It has been my opinion for well over a couple of years that Joe Biden was not mentally fit, or sharp, enough in order to actually BE the real President of the United States of America. It’s about time he dropped out. After the debate it was clear that he had no business running for another term. I voted for him last time, but could not have voted for him this time around. Was so selfish of him to not drop out sooner; I am disappointed.
But at least now I will probably have someone to vote for. I could never have voted for Trump.
I understand the Democrats wanting Biden to step aside, but not Republicans wanting him to. With this happening, it makes Trump's campaign more of a challenge. People say otherwise, but I think that Kamala has a shot at beating Trump. Republicans should not have wished too hard for Biden to stop aside, because now look.Unfortunately, the women will elect Kamala Harris as they see her as the 1st woman president.
All you have to do is watch what little leaks out. The video of Biden boarding Air Force One to return to Delaware showed a feeble old man walking stooped from his car to the plane. He has long shown cognitive slips similar to someone with dementia. What little we see points to him not being well for quite a while. No, he is not able to win because people believe he is not able to function. Not the same thing.
Well it would have happened whether the Republicans wished for it or not.I understand the Democrats wanting Biden to step aside, but not Republicans wanting him to. I agree with you that it was presented to him by his own party that he could not win and for the good of the party he must step down. There is no escaping the facts here! It is precisely because of his cognitive decline that he could not win the election. All of the media spin and spin from many on this forum was only trying to cover and hide the reality that was becoming increasingly obvious to anyone with a grip on reality. Now as to Kamala the spin has already started. She will be presented as the brightest and best of the party party. How soon we forget her own flaws some ofwhich have been pointed out by many in her own party over the past 3 1/2 years. She can’t keep staff because she is so hard to work for, she is far left of Joe. Kamala has utterly failed on her task with the border. Although for different reasons she rambles more than Joe. She is absolutely not the great candidate that she will be spun to be. But she does have access to the 90 million plus in the Democrat war chest. Let the spin begin. This is how it's been presented to him; there is no clear path any more for him to win the race.
