Just heard it on the news. He will finish his term.
I’m honestly wishing him the best and will keep him and his family in my prayers.

So, from what I understand, Biden endorsed Harris, but he freed the delegates who can cast their
votes for someone other than Harris. The DNC convention is going to be an open convention
and it could mean someone other than Kamala Harris will get the Democratic nomination.

Also, if Biden isn't fit to run for re-election, how is it he's able to remain as president?

There's a difference between "I can handle 4 more months" and "I can handle 4 more years".

Unfortunately, the women will elect Kamala Harris as they see her as the 1st woman president.
That didn’t happen with Hillary Clinton.

It's not demonstrated he can actually handle 4 more months. Let's face it, it's a matter of Joe Biden's pride that the Democrats are in the mess they're in.

If he decides he truly can't continue -- if, for example, COVID hits him hard -- he can resign in favor of his vice-president. At the moment, it's not obvious that he should do that. One bad TV appearance doesn't make him unfit for office. But we'll see how his current illness goes.

I don't think that's a given. Most white women voted for Trump, and white women constitute the largest specific voting block. Voting democratic is a balance of one set of women's rights (abortion) over another set (all other women's rights facing the intrusion of transwomen).

I think it's about as predictable as the flip of a coin.

It’s about time he dropped out. After the debate it was clear that he had no business running for another term. I voted for him last time, but could not have voted for him this time around. Was so selfish of him to not drop out sooner; I am disappointed.

But at least now I will probably have someone to vote for. I could never have voted for Trump.

Who knows?

I knew a woman his age who suddenly died from a heart attack followed by a stroke….anything can happen at that age, and I can only pray for his health and safety.

Let me say...

Donald Trump - Hating he got shot
Joe Biden - Hating he is stepping down

I have no delight in the evils at hand. Our country is indeed in need of a lot of prayer here in 2024!
Yup. May God protect our nation.

Interesting that I don't see any of the main Republican voices/sources - cheering.

It is hard for me to imagine that if Trump announced that he will drop out of the race for the 2025 term, that there would not be even one major Democratic voice cheering.

In one of Trump's speeches in the past week he was lamenting that Biden was getting pushed out of the race by his own party.

You are assuming he's not fit to run for President. My read is more that this is an acknowledgment that he can't win.
