Street Preacher, How can you use the NKJV if you are Textus Recepetus only? I thought that NKJV was from some other original text. I am just wondering, I consider myself to be Textus Recepetus only also.
They both use the same Text , it's just some of the words have been updated..............here we go..........;)

I am sorry if I said that something that would make someone angry, I just didn't that they came from the same text, my ignorance.
I now accept the NKJV, if infact this is true.
The KJV only issue is a hot topic, I just didn't want to get into it in another thread....

Yes it's defiately a hot issue , but perhaps what is required is careful strategy.....
here's my take on it.....
How can we who believe in verbal inspiration and the infallibility of God's word in the "autographs" not also believe that God has preserved His word for us?

What is the point in anyone waxing lyrical over the original manuscripts if we haven't got them?

The topic at hand is which versions (presumably English) people prefer..... Not KJV or TR only. That's enough said about that......

Here are my preferences:

ESV, NASB, NIV, NKJV, HCSB, KJV, RSV, NLT, etc....

I tend to use the dynamic translations as a resource for the formal translations.

I bought a copy of the ESV last week and have been reading it everyday. I really like it. It has a real scholarly feel to it. It reminds me alot of the old ASV. I think it is based on the same text isn't it?
The same text as what?

Fundementally the ESV is a revision of the RSV. Revisions always go back to the original languages however.
