  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A lot of verses that deal with speech or communication might be more helpful than those that actually have the word "write" in them. I think Matt.5:16 is good for all:
" Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Actual verses

Proverbs 25:11
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Song of Solomon 4:11
Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

I think the whole Bible (from cover to cover) is more than useful. I think it's an excellent tool for plot study, character study etc.

I don't have the notes anymore but someone commented once on Paul's epistle ... how he addresses an audience, how he delivers his points etc.

And here are some thoughts on the Bible and it's usefulness for writers:

The Englsih Bible has been a greater influence in the course of English literature than all other forces put together. It is impossible to read standard authors intelligently without knowing something about the Bible, for they all assume familiarity with it on the point of their readers.......to any young man or woman, eaten with ambition to become a writer, I shall advise first of all, KNOW THE BIBLE."
William Lyon Phelps, former Prof. of English Literature at Yale University
