  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Guy's

Which way do you find is the best to study the Bible?

 Welcome!

Wow ... that's kind of a complicated question. I don't think there is a wrong way. I''ll just tell you about how I study it. I started with the questions I had about things ... looking for answers ... and from there, ever since, I wander as i'm led. I think it best not to confine the Lord to mode of operation. At the same time I intend some time in my life to read it from beginning to end. It seems right we should somehow, but I couldn't tell you why I feel that way. I never seem to get there because i'm always led by what my need is at the time ... I like the way I learn because I have this intense thirst for the things of the Lord. What I've found from that is every verse is connected to many and sometimes you might start in Isaiah and end in Luke in the same study. I think it's best, as well, to find a good teacher who teaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter ... He may jump a round in order of books ... but it's important it is organized study verse by verse with things in context ... always keep things in context and rightly divide the word ... that is to say understand the difference of the flesh understanding and the spiritual understanding. I pray you find your answr ... the one just for you. God bless :)

I started more methodically, and now I like to search questions and topics.

I also really enjoy listening to audio Bibles, because this gives me a completely different perspective of a story.

People declare that all sorts of regiments and plans are the right way, but God did not give us a written order. He said to meditate on His Words day and night...delight in the Law... instruct our children...

Welcome, welcome, welcome to CF and the P/AOG side of the forum.

A good question is "How hungry are you?":)

The annointing of the Holy Spirit can lead you exactly to what God wants you to know in your spirit this day and beyond. So, always pray first and ask God to guide and grant you understanding of His word.

With your desire fixed on the word as food for life, you can dig into whatever you teeth can handle.

A babe in Christ would desire the milk of the word.

Luke or another of the 4Gospels will teach you about Jesus.
Acts will teach you about the rise of the Christian church from Judaism at Jerusalem by the apostles, to the leading of the Holy Spirit by Paul.
Paul was primarily sent to teach and write letters to Gentile nations.

Of Paul's letter
Romans will teach you many of the doctrines of the church such as;
The doctrine of sin, the doctrine of righteousness, the doctrine of faith, the doctrine of sin and the law, judgment, and so much more.

.................................................

A bible with a good outline can give you an overview and background to wet your apettite, then you can dig into a balanced meal with room for desert.
Enjoy.

A good bible can be a priceless treasure. Some bibles sell for $5.95, some sell for $149.50.

Having a good summary of each book before you read it, can keep you focused and within context.

Paul's epistles are letters to and about Churches unlike the other books of the bible.

Luke's gospels connects with the beginning of the Church that Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against it.
