  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought we could share ideas, strategy and maybe some good books with each other.

I'm not very good when it comes to biblestudies. Not on a personal side anyway, I always enjoy taking part in one though.

So what I'm interested in, what do you do when you do a biblestudy?

If you're like me and want to start doing biblestudies, I hope you'll get encouragement to do so.

If you've been doing it for a while, maybe you get new ideas.

Feel free to share...

I have done 1 study in the past on the meanings of God's names, for they portray part of His character.

I am in the process of doing a study on Christ's numerous sacrifices for us & His gifts to us.

Let me know (pref. pm) if interest in seeing what I've found thus far.

Bible study.....what i'm wondering is what the purpose of it would be...to learn of God, to get to know Him, or to learn what it means to walk with Him......or what porpose did you have in mind?

Do you research a certain topic...?
Do you have a studybible or look on certain internet sites..

Or what?

If you have any question let me know and I'll try to explain..lol.

I have done two bible studies on-line. They have been both from lifeway.com and they both have been Beth Moore Studies. Both have been enjoyable and they do have homework. I also have her 90 day workbook on David and Jesus also put out by Beth Moore. She is a women bible school teacher and I enjoy her studies. She has away of showing how thing really do apply in my life and keeps me focus on my spiritually. I have found that if I have a reason to stay in the bible I do better at reading it. I am keeping my ears and eyes open to see what the bible studies are in my area because when I am done with this one, I will be trying to get into one in the area I live in. However it is nice to do them at home as well.

maybe starting with the purpose of it might help....

curiousity?
intellectual pursuit?
put a notch on one's academic conquests?
bored?
hungry for God?

Hi.

I am actually involved in a Bible study right now. I am reading the Bible mainline story using the 14 chronological historical books in order to get an overall picture of the entire event history as it unfolds. The books are:

1. Genesis
2. Exodus
3. Numbers
4. Joshua
5. Judges
6. 1 Samuel
7. 2 Samuel
8. 1 Kings
9. 2 Kings
10. Ezra
11. Nehemia
12. 1 Maccabees (You can skip this one if you don't have a Catholic version. It basically tells about attempting to liberate Israel from foreign Greek occupation after the death of Alexander the Great)
13. Luke
14 Acts

These books form a historical spine to the Bible where all the other books can fall into one of their headings as a contemporary of that major era.

The Gospels are of course exempt. Luke is the most historical, thus chosen for the study. However, the other two synoptic gospels and the gospel of John can fall right in as well.

This study really opens up the overall history of God's interaction with Man and how he revealed himself to the world. :)

The study am doing, on - line is called; living beyond yourself. It is about the fruits of the Spirit. What they are and how they apply to us and our relationship with God. And how that translates into how we learn to Perceive, Discern and have Insight into what God want for us. So far we have mostly been in the NT. I hope that helps.

The gospel of John is a great book to read if you want to learn about God.

Out of the entire Bible it is my favorite.
