That's exactly what happened. He expected to be accepted.

This is how it will be at judgment too. Many will say to Him we have done this and that for you, but He will say He doesn't know them. It is because with the mouth confetion is made but the heart is far from Him.

Scientists today want us to think that ancient man was unable to do anything. They performed successful brain surgeries and open heart surgery, with tools that rival those we have today. They possibly had hot air balloons, they were somehow able to see things that we can only see through microscopes, they had electricity, through batteries that have been excavated. There is so many wonderful things to find out there that the average Christian doesn't know about. They hide in their Christianity because they think that there is no scientific evidence for the Bible being true but there is!

It is a sad thought isn't it. So many have been indoctrinated by the world that even christians fall for the subtle lies being spread.

How many christians believe God worked with evolution? Pleanty and many on these forums in fact. The reason is because the world as a whole has chosen to believe a lie rather than the truth. So the truth is quietly hidden and the lie is blazingly proclaimed.

Is it such a horrible thing to believe God used such things and the world of the past was not as advanced as us? Yes it is...one lie can destroy much faith in the truth. Since a little leven, levens the whole lump.

But like I said...the world CHOSE to believe a lie. So showing them the truth will make little difference.

I actually totally disagree with what your saying here (with respect of course )

As Christians we will stumble and I love the fact that I can look at someone like David and see the amount of mess he got into and yet how much did God love him? When Peter denied Jesus, how much did He still love him? I'm very qualified at messing up. Infact I probably have a masters and PHD in stumbling. Yet that has not caused anyone who knows me or come into contact with me to stumble or feel let down. The reverse is very often true. They can see that I have a relationship with the living God and if I can anyone can. It gives hope.

I would rather be around a Christian who has experienced a few stumbles and through them grown spiritually and become more Christlike. Than a Christian who acts as though they have never sinned and will never sin again and is perfect.

If we stumble infront of people we just get up and continue walking and then those stumbles will become less and less as our walk becomes more stable and mature

Forgive me for not being clear as I want
We as Christians should be role models for
New Christians or people that haven't received
Christ just yet and hopefully they will know that

What do you think of the verse 23 and 24? Maybe other versions explain it better than my NIV. "Lamech said to his wives 'Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times.' " Do we know anything else about this incident??I'm curious to find out

Many Christians (I count myself as one) do not necessarily take the 6 day creation as literal. If you do then good for you.....

If you dont mind my asking, why dont you? Without sounding righteous (because that really is not my intent) its how the bible describes it as happening. Do you not take the rest of the bible as truth as to what exactly has happened in other situations?

I would assume that if you take the Bible account of creation as literal then you also take the "young" earth view (perhaps I'm being presumptious when I state that, but that pretty much seems to be the norm)

I have found no credible evidence to suggest that the earth is merely thousands of years old. On the contrary it is very clear imo that the world is millions of years old. Not every account documented is to be taken literally. Satan appeared as a snake and then transformed into a spirit in the air, how did that occur? Where in scripture does it support Lucifer as being able to transform into different creatures?

Do you take every word written in Revelation as literal?
I would argue that it by no means is supposed to be read in such a way.

I have no problem with those that believe in both a young earth and a 6 day creation. I wouldn't make assupmtions or judgements about their faith or walk with God because of the way they interpret (or misinterpret) the Word of God. So I would kindly expect the same courtesy for me. Neither would I patronise anyone here or question their character

In an effort to keep this thread from turning into a debate I would just like to answer this one question, state what I believe, and I think we should drop the subject of evolution or creation.

Now as to what I believe on creation:

I believe the bible will tell you if it speaks litteraly or not. Visions are not literal thus when Revalation speaks of the visions we know these things are not totaly litteral. Creation however is not spoken of as being anything but litteral. Now if you do the math you will find the earth is here from 6,000 years (The gap theory also demonstraits a lack in taking scripture at face value).

Now I will not go into a debate on all of the "evidence" around us of things. I also know a great deal about the so called "evedince" that "supports" a longer period of time. Take a look at the drdino website or answers in genises.

With that said lets get off this topic. I will leave everyone to view the sites mentioned if you want to study further.

I was looking at this myself. I do not believe we have any other referance off hand. I will have to look it up. But it seems to me that this is speaking of something different than murder.

Cain was not injured yet killed. Lamech however killed in self defence it seems. That would explain why he would say his vengance would be greater.

Lets look at this another way too:

If a man killed another then another man would seek to kill him and then another him and so on. God however is a God who loves to save not just those in trouble, but those who would get into trouble. He preserves!

The punishment imposed on any who would kill one who had killed already was to save the ones who would kill the killer.

I dont really know what to make of Lamech's story cos there is so little information about it. What do you think about it? However, he WAS Noah's father, so that makes him a great man!! lol

The question of Cains wife is actualy very easy to answer. You see Eve didn't JUST have sons. They had daughters. Now living hundreds of years means they could have A LOT of daughters.

In the first generation they married sisters. It wasn't until Moses that they stopped the practice.

Genesis 5:4 Daughters are generaly not named in the geneology but they ARE there.

I love this story. Many think of it as God the destroier. But if you look close enough you can find places where God wanted to have mercy on the world.

Think of this...why would God have this man build a boat? God was having Noah build a boat for the sake of mercy. Not for Noah, but for the world.

It took a long time to build that boat. God could have just put it together Himself. But during the time of building the boat those on earth would be preached to by Noah.

Think about the great love of God. He has never been one who wanted to destoy. He wants to save. While the whole world was against Him God pleaded with man until the boat was finished. While we were against Him...He gave His life for us!

Many look at God as cruel...but God is far more merciful and compassionet then we give credit.
