  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all. I just have a question and was wondering if any one can help. We are starting a college age bible study group, and I was jwondering if any one had any suggestions on which material to use to help us, besides the Bible of course. There are so many series out there by different authors, so if anyone have used any materials before, that would really be hepful if you can share. Thanks.

Hmm, well, I guess things can depend on the make up of your group. Is it single gendered or both? If it's just women, I know some women who've enjoyed the Beth Moore Bible Study materials. Or maybe you don't even need all that. Maybe you just need one of those Bibles that is set up for Bible Study. In other words, you and your group may choose a book in the Bible of interest and then follow along in the "Bible Study" Bible.

Hi

Recently at our women's bible study group we weren't sure what to do either. I think that study guides are a great idea because they allow for quite a bit of discussion which I always think is good. So you could one of 2 things. Firstly, take a poll of the members of your group and get each person to write down the top 3 things that they would like to take a closer look at, whether it be a topic, or a book of the bible. Secondly, you could get a list of all the study guide titles (I took my list from a large online Christian Bookstore) or as many as you think necessary and take a poll on that, have each person write down which study looks to be of interest to them. Then, of course you just go with whatever is most popular. I think that this is the most democratic and you will always be going with a study topic that most people want to cover.

Hope this helps, good luck.

My group has used two of John MacAurther's study guides (on Revelation and on 1st Peter). I don't always agree with his views, but they are pretty solid overall. We use them as a starting point, and they have led to some truly awesome studies.

The best bible study tool is life. My second favorite is the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. Lexicons, I hear, are similar. I plan to post on this board again with a more comprehensive explanation, but do not have time. I have it saved and can post when I have more posts made. Some great websites with bible study tools are on my personal website(about me page...links pages, etc...). I don't know if I have that website on my profile yet...if not will try to add

My number one Bible study tool is life. My second number one bible study tool is the Strongs Exhausive Concordance. The Abingdon's or other older versions seem really good. Concordances are great...they take words from the bible and put them in alphabetical order so that you can look them up. The Strong's does even more than that. It puts numbers to each original Hebrew and Chaldee, and Greek Words. Then you can look up the orginal word in the back of the Strong's and find the orignial word with an explanation or definition. I hear that Lexicons do the same thing. There are great websites with bible study tools too.
There are:
www.crosswalk.com
www.apostolic-churches.net
www.apostolic.net
www.crossdaily.com I think
www.netbible.com
www.biblegateway.com
etc...
A good search on bible study tools might help
Audio sermons are available on aposlic.net and sermonindex.net...you can also search for audio files with real search and altavista search. I don't know how to audio search with goolge.
