  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should we do a Bible study together in deeper fellowship? A nice slow reading and light discussion of a Bible book? If so what book?

I suggest Psalms or Mark or John or Phillipians.

Other suggestions??

I would be up for the book of Acts. I am studying that now and wouldn't mind having some help with it.

are you studying it with others or for a specific reason? How far into it are you?

My Sunday School class is doing a lesson on a set of scriptures in Acts. Three months we will be doing it. However, I wanted to get the whole picture of the book and started reading all the in between scriptures that was not being discussed in class. I have read up till chapter 4 a few times. I want to get a really good grasp as to the chain of events and why things are happening. I am not sure how to go about it or if repeating the read is a good idea...but I have never studied a whole book. (I'm still new to the Word) :)

i will share with you how i study the Bible. I like doing whole books. First i read the book through at least 3 times usually in at least three different versions. Then when i think i have a good overview i begin with verse one and try to get as much out of each verse as i can. When did/does your SS class begin Acts?

9/4 ~~ Acts 2:1-8 & 38-42
9/11 ~~ Acts 2:43-35
9/18 ~~ Acts 3:1-16 (no class cause of an event at our church)
9/25 ~~ Acts 4:1-4 & 23-31
10/2 ~~ Acts 6:8-15 & 7:54-60

Those have been the lessons so far. I have a big problem with bashfulness....so I don't discuss any in class. I am much more comfortable doing something like this online. Feeling more free to ask my questions (which I've got a few so far). On here I can ask the questions and not feel weird about them being said out of ignorance. I am so new to this studying that I do feel very inadequate to study amongst people that know what they are talking about. Feeling like I would slow them down. I need to get over this, huh??? :) Well, in any case whatever book is decided upon....I am up for it! :D Good idea!!!

God Bless~~~Newbeliever :)
