  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not sure where else to post this, so I posted it here.

The three main bible study helps are a concordance, a bible handbook, and a bible dictionary.

Leaving this question of concordance aside, what is your favorite bible handbook and your favorite bible dictionary?

I mainly use a software called Accordance. There are a LOT of study helps available based on the package you buy.

Probably my age, but I’m a dead tree guy.

The shelf is also full of concordances, lexicons and dictionaries. I even have a commentary by Issac Asimov. Lots of dead tree's here.

My Bible books are: FIRST --the Scofield KJV Study Bible, which gives me the regular KJV with many notes, commentaries on cross references, and information about words not properly understood, etc., and I view the NKJV as needed. Then I use several sources as Strong's Exhaustive Concordance; The Concise Bible Dictionary; and numerous writings over many year by Bible scholars on various books of our Holy Bible. I find these and other good Bible material at Bible Truth Publishers, Addison, IL -USA.

A study bible is just a bible and bible handbook in one, with a little concordance, dictionary, and commentary thrown in. Great for traveling when you don't have your full library. By favorite is the Thompson Chain Reference.

I'm looking for recommendations for full bible study helps - Dictionary & handbook. IMO the handbook is the most useful.

Thank you, watchman, for your recommendation of The Concise Bible Dictionary.
