  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Peace in Christ.

The “waters” in Genesis 1:20 speak of the Living Waters of the Spirit which brings joy to many people who will hear as they partake of that Living Water and live.

Gen 1:20 KJV
(20) And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

The Lord interprets the Scriptures in the Living Waters of the Spirit to our hearing ears and those who will hear will “live” (the living soul).

The living soul (the “creature that has life”= the living soul…the rejoicing soul) shall rejoice and praise God openly with thankful words (the “fowl” that will fly above the earth in the open expanse/hearing of His knowledge that comes from Heaven).

Birds sing. The “fowl”(our words) sing the praises of God openly for His knowledge revealed from Heaven in the Living Waters of the Spirit. We sing the praises of God with our spoken words (the “fowl” that fly). We are to praise God before all nations of the world.

The Living Waters of the Spirit shall bring forth many people (a multitude/swarm of “fish”) that shall rejoice…the many living souls that have life.

The waters bring forth many people (Hebrew “sharats” …swarm) who will rejoice (Hebrew “sherets”…..to wriggle).

It speaks of the abundance (sharats) of people and the motions of “wriggling” (sherets) with joy. A great many (a swarm) of people shall rejoice (wriggle). Our souls that once lamented shall rejoice (wriggle in motion within). A multitude/swarm of people ( fish) shall wriggle with joy at the hearing of the Living Waters.

Gen 1:20
(20) And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly (sharats: abundance, swarm) the moving (sherets: to wriggle) creature that hath life (the living soul), and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Those who will “come to the waters” will hear and their “souls shall live”…that is, rejoice.

Isa 55:1 KJV
(1) Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Isa 55:3 KJV
(3) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

The “fowls”...our words…shall fly above the earth in the open expanse of Heaven. Birds sing. We sing praises openly unto our God when we shall hear His knowledge spoken in the Spirit from Heaven.

Psa 147:1 KJV
Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

Our mourning turns into “dancing” (a motion) so that we may sing praise unto Him.

Psa 30:11-12 KJV
(11) Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

This joy then brings forth “singing” to Him with praise and thanksgiving. The "fowls" (words of praise) fly above the Earth in the hearing of Heaven.

(12) To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Wherever the Living Waters shall come, every living soul that “moves” with joy shall live.

The Waters shall bring forth a very great multitude of fish…a swarm of people. Let the waters swarm with swarming (wriggling) living creatures…living souls…as they receive the Word of God as spoken in the Living Waters with joy.

They will receive the Word of God as spoken in the Living Waters of the Spirit with joy.

Eze 47:9 KJV
(9) And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

Genesis 1:20 means exactly what it says...

God said, “Let the water swarm with swarms of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”

There is no need to interpret it beyond what it clearly says. God created sea creatures and birds. Nothing more. It definitely doesn't mean that "the “waters” in Genesis 1:20 speak of the Living Waters of the Spirit which brings joy to many people who will hear as they partake of that Living Water and live."

That doctrine is discussed elsewhere in Scripture, but you're over-interpreting God's Word to mean something that isn't in Genesis.

Thanks for the study. Interesting thoughts!
Consider that God created nothing here (directly that is). He told the sea to bring them forth. He empowered the sea and the earth with His Word. His Word went into the elements and empowered them to bring forth life. Over the period of billions of years, the earth and the sea brought forth life.
Just a shared thought.
Blessings.

Hi Pescador,

Thank you for taking the time to read.

I have taken your past advice and have tried to shorten my posts lately and am trying not to be too long-winded.

I understand your feedback as I have always considered Genesis 1 to be taken literally also but God does use metaphors to hide His knowledge until the proper time to be revealed.

Thank you.

SavedByGrace3,

Thank you for your kindness and your thoughts.

I am thinking that Genesis 1:1 covers all of the literal creation and what follows from Genesis 1:2 - 31 is a metaphor for the "regeneration" of mankind who had become without the form of godliness and void of the knowledge of God.

Mankind readily sees the invisible attributes of God in the visible creation but has not believed in Him nor is thankful to God as Creator of this vast universe and has turned away from Him.

Now mankind needs to hear His knowledge via the Spirit sent from Heaven since the visible seeing of His creation doesn't seem to be enough for man.

Anyway, thanks for reading.
