  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey there,

so my friend and I are travelling at the minute, and have both very recently become new to the Christian ways...we have A Good News Bible, A Bible Dictionary, E-Sword and each other. Whta is they best way to study the bible with each other? Is it possible to learn off wach other and the tools we have? We are constantly on the move so signing up or joing a study group isnt really an option?!

any idea?! how do these study groups normally go??? are there any online grups here?

any ideas welcome!!

It sounds like an exciting time in your life.
You have enough resources to keep you going for years, so yes, you have something good. As RF said above, Biblegateway.com, or Studylight.org give you different versions and quick searches.

Make sure that you pray together. It's not just a way of caring for others, but when two or more meet in His name, He is there in your midst (He also dwells in you) -- your prayers are going to activate some important changes in people's lives.

I think you're fortunate to have a friend who will do this with you. Perhaps after you read a book, you can agree to get together and discuss several things:

What the themes were
Favorite verses
any areas you had issues with
What personally spoke to you the most
Etc, etc.

Perhaps you can even compile questionnaires for each other to assist in study.

If you're looking for structure, just pick a book of the Bible that you both would like to read. Then go through it one verse at a time, talking about anything that applies, that comes to mind. If you have a computer, look up the word definitions (studylight has them when you're using their NASB or KJV) to help clarify meaning. When you are both done with one verse, go on to the next.
