  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hola everyone! I read & study my bible a lot, however I don't read it everyday, at least not in the past.

My New Year's Resolution is to read my Bible EVERYDAY in 2007.

So, I thought it would be a nice idea to have a thread where people can come and record the Scriptures they read daily.

Hopefully, as we read our Bibles together, we will have a since of appreciation for each other and for a place like CF where we can do something like this. And through this I hope we reach a level of "Deeper Fellowship"

So here's how it goes:

1.) Try to read your Bible EVERYDAY, starting January 1, 2007. (I will start with Matthew and read to Revelation and then go back and read Genesis to Malachi, as I've heard this is the best way to read and study the Bible. But you do it your way. If you want to do it like me... Great!!! If you prefer another order or no order at all... Great!!! The important thing is that everyone is reading their Bibles.)

2.) Come back to this thread daily and record the Scriptures that you read. Feel free to talk about what was in the passage/s and what you took from it personally. Who knows, maybe someone also read that particular passage on that particular day and you all can get a discussion going. Or maybe you just want to share the Scriptures, because they truly touched you and you feel moved to talk about them.

3.) At the end of 2007, we can all look back at the thread and see how much we've grown spiritually (personally & together)!!!

EXAMPLE:

Jan. 1, 2006:
-Matthew 1:1-4:24

Then, if someone else had read that passage on that particular day, then I could have a discussion with them. Or I could just tell everyone what the passage was about and what I took away from it personally.

One MAJOR benefit of this thread will be that, while reading a certain passage from the Bible, you may not quite understand it or you may wonder what someone else takes away from it. With this thread, someone may have already read the passage and made a post on it and that post may help you to better understand the Scriptures in the passage. Or you may see someone else's point of view and realize that you also agree with the way they see it!!!! In this way, the thread will also serve as a kind of Bible reference/help source!!!

My hope is that a lot of people jump on board with this thread, so spread the word to ALL your CF buddies!!!

GOD BLESS!!! :)

Purpose Driven Life has a pdf that gives you a schedule of how many chapters of what to read to get through it.

It starts with OT, then NT. So you can simply flip it around while sticking to the chapters designated.

Site isn't working at the moment, but I have seen it in the past.

January 1, 2007:

I just finish reading Matthew 1:1-5:48.

Here is what I read about in the passage:

I.) The geaneology of Jesus Christ

II.) The appearing of the angel to Joseph.

III.) The visit of the Wise Men to King Herod.

IV.) The visit of the Wise Men to see the Baby Jesus.

V.)The flight of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus into Egypt.

VI.)The return of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus to Nazareth

VII.)The preaching of John the Baptist in the wilderness

VIII.) The baptism of Jesus

IX.) The temptation of Jesus

X.) The beginning ministry of Jesus

XI.) Peter, Andrew, James, & John are called to discipleship

XII.) The Beatitudes: the Sermon on the mount (up to Chapter 6)

*It's wonderful to read this passage, as I have read it many many times, and love it more and more each time! It's great to see the beginning to the Greatest Story Ever Told!!! It's always important to know the beggining. Some people may wonder then why I am starting with the New Testament instead of the Old Testament, as the Old Testament is the beginning of the Bible. Well, it is the begining of the human race, but Jesus is the true beginning. I mean think about it. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are what? You're born again. You have a new beginning.

Too, another reason I've started with the New Testament is because I've heard from many different people that when you read and study the NT first, it helps you to better understand the OT and when you read the OT, you will see how everything from Genesis to Malachi was pointing to Jesus Christ.

**If anyone else read this passage and would like to discuss it, let me know!!!

:)

That's one of the awesome things about the Bible. It is a book that it is alive. We can see something different in the same passage every time we read it.

I'm a bit behind as I've had strep throat since New Year's day... ugghh... the cloud of medication is begining to lift and I can see the light! hehe!

I did manage to finish the gospel of John that I had started during Christmas week. The last verse of the book of John amazes me... what a compliment to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

John 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

WOW! :amen:

I've been doing this for a few years now. At the moment I'm in 1 Samuel and it rocks. Now I read three chaps minimun a day, sometimes more.

I once met a guy who read the bible through every year and he'd been doing it for like 20 years. Cool.

Must study it more though...
The interesting thing is that all the people who have been reading all those years obviously never get tired of it. Keep up the good work.
