  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sanford very fine point pen. Probably the best pen I owned. Of course, I never highlight, but underline. I also very rarely underline words. Typically, I use underlines to follow a continuity through a passage that I might not catch just with some verses. The beauty of those sanford pens is that the ink will not fade.

I might add one thing. A credit card is the single greatest straight-edge to help you underline properly. Without it, I'd probably have lines going all over the page.

Howdy AceHarddrive,

Greetings.

When studying the Bible, do you use anything to highlight words/make notes in the margin...? If you do, what do you find works best (non-bleeding...)?
I use Pigma 0.1 Marking Pens, available in Black, Red, Green, Blue, Purple. I mainly use black for brief notes in the outer (wide) margins, including chapter section break-ups.

I use red for x-refs. Some of these passage x-refs are already in the centre margin, and a minor circle around the ref letter in the text and around the corresponding one in the centre margin is often sufficient to highlight. Direct quotations in the NT of OT passages is always a help to understand both a NT passage as well as the OT passage.

Kind regards
Trevor

I use a wide margin Bible so that I have plenty of room to write comments. They are very hard to find though and are expensive if you can find one. I also write things in the back of my Bible in the pages for notes. I reference them by a simple Note# by the verse and mark the note in the back by the same #. Example; Eph. 1:3 I have marked in the margin by the verse note 44 and in the back on the note pages I simply go to note 44 to read it. I also underline with a pen and use highlighters. I have found that the blue highlighters do not bleed through as the other colors do. If your bible doesn't have pages for notes in the back perhaps you could get a notebook the same size as your Bible and use it in the same way. I also reference the passage in the notes so that I can find where the note refers from just reading the note. If you use e-sword there is a place in it to write you own comments and notes, just be sure to save them to a disc often just in case your computer crashes.
