It's tactless and it's not going to make anybody view atheists as anything more than intolerant jerks, but hey - if being marginalized doesn't bother them, then it sounds like a party to me.
No, you're right; I didn't mean to imply that this, in particular, was an intolerant action. But the widespread perception among the 96% of the American population that isn't atheist is, nevertheless, that atheists are intolerant, and equating the Bible to porn isn't exactly going to help ameliorate this growing sense of alienation.
No, that's very true. But the way societal trends are going, as a completely neutral party in all of this, I can't help thinking that atheist activists would do well to exercise a little more caution and restraint in alienating themselves from the rest of the public. The way to change society and encourage, for example, a greater separation between church and state, certainly isn't to marginalize yourselves.
