• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi folks. I struggle too but I know there has to be a better way.
I have a question......can the Word of God cure us?
I sure hope so because it's vain to trust in man.
I deal with such insecurity.
My daughter is so gifted and smart and I feel like a nothing around her at times. Is that normal?

God can certainly heal us. I tend to believe that He uses therapists to help us learn what motivates our behavior, as well as to teach us coping skills for making changes in our behavior. Since I have been able to change my diagnosis with the help of God and my therapist, I tend to lean in that direction. I am also a therapist.

Feelings of low self-esteem are common in people with BPD. I have two gifted sons, and I sometimes have felt inferior.

Most definately. In my struggle, God has been my only source of help until late. It may not sound very credible comming from such a young person as myself, however God has helped me tremendously when counseling was refused to me and even now. However, He does work through others that will also help with the healing process.

hello! i'm dee...
i believe in different levels of healing.
for me i know that salvation is my healling. i've learned and will continue to learn how to manage my issues. my days are deffinately full :preach:! some days are easy, some are difficult. but through all i will learn to say, :holy: blessed be the name of the Lord! blessed be His glorious name!

i have a certificate in DBT skills; the treatment for BPD. everything i learned i actually already knew from the bible! look to what is praiseworthy, and the God of peace will be with you. count your trials as joy, because they shape you. draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. etc. :groupray:

do you read the Bible?

Hi Ourfaithworx. :) I do believe it's not that uncommon to feel less significant in certain matters regarding our family. They may have talents we don't have-gifts we haven't achieved. And that's ok. The hope is that somehow all of these works, theirs and ours combined, will work for good.
You have gifts too. You have talents. Don't focus so much on what you don't have perhaps, but learn those things you have been blessed with, and how to use it for good. :)
And yes, I do believe the Bible can offer great help and encouragement to those who struggle. :)

God can heal, but chances are, it's probably not going to happen.

the only reason it won't happen is because of a lack of faith. if one has the attitude of "just as i thought it wouldn't happen" then it won't. Jesus told those he healed that it was their faith that healed them.

Healing for BPD doesn't look like healing for a physical illness. It is a process, and takes time. In me, it took years of therapy and working through a lot of painful issues, along with losing my husband in divorce. It was at that point that the Lord began to heal me, but even then, it took another 5 years of therapy. The healing looks like slowly getting rid of the negative behaviors and replacing them with new, healthy behaviors. One at a time. It is not an instant process. God does heal, and will heal, in HIS time.

looks like this thread needs re-directed.

in the recovery forums, we are not suppose to bring up debates with one another's posts. this is considered off topic to the opening post. also, in recovery areas, when we focus on OP, our goal should be encouragement.

blessings! ~ love dee

I think that god has helped me by pointing me in the right direction, showing me the way to some wonderful RCIA Classes and a nun and priest who are more then willing to help me whenever I need to talk! Maybe he won't heal me to the point where I don't need meds, but honestly I am fine where I am now things are more managable then they ever were!
