  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've applied for Bible college and been accepted for the theology program. But for some reason, I feel a resistence. I don't know if it is coming from inside me (I'm cheap and don't want to spend money on tuition?), or coming from God (saying "not now"?), or coming from somewhere else (satan not wanting me to learn more about God?"

Pray for wisdom and clear direction.

Lambslove, I pray God will give you the wisdom and show you the direction he wants you take in this situation.

One thing to keep in mind, either way if you take the class or not. Is that God is our greatest teacher of all. His spirit will guide and teach us all we need to know. There could be a reason he wants you to take the class, but then again only he can show you if that's what he wants. If you do take the class, then keep in mind that you should rely on Gods word and what his spirit shows you, more so than what you will be taught by men. While God uses us to teach each other, he also teaches us himself.

All in all I guess I would have to say, make sure your feet are firmly planted in the truth before signing up for the class. May God show you what direction he wants you to take.

Just remember that bible college can be a good tool so long as you realize that it is a tool. It is useful and can teach you a lot of things, But it cannot be a substitute for spending time with God. A lot of people make that mistake (ahem...me). We absolutely need to spend a lot of time in the word and in prayer every day. That is our strength. Bible college won't give you that.

Thanks, but I'm looking for something more formal and structured, plus I think I want to get into full time ministry, and I'd need a diploma from an accredited school for that.

I've been in this career for 18 years now, twice as long as the average person, and my heart is constantly wanting to be serving God more fully. I realize that what I do is serving God, but anyone can do it, it doesn't have to be a Christian. I want to devote my time to eing productive in a job only a Christian would take, whether it's cleaning bathrooms at a mission in the darkest parts of Russia or writing and teaching folks in my own neighborhood.

Keep me in your prayers!

THIS is what being a follower of Jesus is all about. You are going to be awesome no matter where God leads you. Stay focused and God bless.

To Lambslove:

If you have the opportunity within reach, and by that, I mean:
location: accessible from where you live, you wouldn't have to move 1500 miles;
availability: you've been accepted (!!);
monetary: you can afford it, or you have been offered a scholarship;
GO FOR IT!

Even if you NEVER have a chance to use the degree or certification, the idea of studying something so wonderful, so fascinating is beyond words to me.

GO FOR IT, and take with you the hearts and prayers of everyone here.

Peace,
~VOW
