Beyond the Finite Mind

It's actually quite interesting the concept of the effect the "trinitarian" doctrine has on the church. Some dismiss it as Greek heresy, and being modelled on Assyrian/Chaldean understanding of their God(s), whilst others support the fact that the Bible supports the existence of a triune God.

Interestingly enough the concept seems to be accepted more within an Oriental(Eastern) rather than Occidental (Western) mindframe, but as we only really use up at the most about 7% of our brain power, we will never fully understand the concept of an infinite, always present, all knowing God on this earth anyway ... IMHO.

Ok for those who believe in the authority of scripture like me:

The Bible states that God is one (Deut 6:4, James2:19)

but also states that

The Father is God ( John 6:27, Romans 1:7, 1 Peter 1:2)
The Son is God (Isa 7:14, John 1:14, Romans 9:5; Heb 1:8 )
The Spirit is God ( Gen1:1, Acts 5:3-4, 1 Cor 3:16)

Scripture then teaches us that they worked together in Creation (Genesis 1:1; Col 1:16, Psalm 104:30), when Christ came to eath (Luke 1:35), at his baptism (Matt 3:16-17) and his ressurection (Acts 2:32, Romans 10:4).

Finally the gospel commission in Matthew 28:19,20 Jesus tells his followers to baptise in the name ascribed to Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

[Note: 1 John 5:7 ,the Johanneium comma for budding theologians, is still a hotly disputed text so I left it out for this portion]

Truth be told, even with our rope, clover, family, human three-in-one analogies we still fall short of grasping what the apostle Paul describes as "the mystery of godliness"!! However such beauty that our finite mind can handle is found in God.....

Blessings
Dave :D

I like his scripture backup for the Father to be God, the Son to be God, and the Spirit to be God. Certainly God is able to be all three at once. How this is possible is a mystery that I know will be revealed to me one day in heaven.

Even if we did use 100% of our brain, we still wouldn't be able to comprehend Him all! He's just too big! lol

Well just for future reference, (not as a debate) we do use all our brain... my psychology book put it this way : "When you think that you only use 10% of your brain, don't hope that when you get shot in the head it will only hit the 90% you don't use." Just so you know :D God bless! Have a great day!
