  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have a couple questions regarding God's work beyond our own planet. First off, is there some interpretation of one of the signs of the Second Coming that could say we will be allowed to explore and colonize space beforehand? I ask because it seems a shame that we could miss out on such a wondrous aspect of God's creation, and creativity.

Second, assuming the reasonably-probable existence of other life out there, who would, per theoretical scientific boundaries, exist on a planet similar to Earth in most regards, and would be quite a lot like us physiologically, is it safe to assume that they were created and led to worship the same God as us? It fascinates me to think that God created so many planets, many of which, statistics show, MUST support life. Perhaps those planets shared some of the same experiences as in our bible?

I honestly don't know, and truthfully I have trouble getting my head around the thought of it. He is responsible for all creation, and all creation is meant to know Him, correct? Unless we humans are the only ones who need redemption. Or maybe we're just not meant to know the experiences of other worlds in God's flock. Perhaps there are hundreds of bibles across hundreds of planets, each with no mention of anything beyond its own intended planet.

Just some food for thought :p

I think with the billions of galaxies that God likely has other words populated with other beings. I don't see him letting all that go to waste :)
As for us colonizing other planets and such, I truly wish we had that vision and would follow it. It is a far better vision that the Armageddon mentality that is so ingrained in our culture that it permeates our culture and books and movies. I do believe in a rapture, and that the earth at the end will not be a pleasant place, but since we do not truly know when that will occur, maybe we ought to get on with exploring space and focusing on a positive future until the very end.

Okay, some interesting debates are sure to pop up here in response to these couple of questions.

This is not the debate forum - in fact debates are not allowed here at all. If you are looking for debate go the the General Theology section - and you'll get all the debate you want.

This is for advice only.

My apologies. I misspoke, and perhaps I also misunderstood. I'm not looking to debate, merely to see what others believe on this topic, as this sort of thing seems a bit mind-boggling to think about on my own. That qualifies as advice, correct?

I've always found this verse interesting:
Mark 13:27
King James Version (KJV)
27And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

But whether or not the Bible speaks of space exploration or settlement or even Aliens does not mean there are not such things. To my knowledge the Bible doesn't speak of a whole host of things, including the computer I'm using right now, but that does not affect whether or not they exist or are possible. The Bible speaks of spiritual things.
