  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Something I was thinking about today.

“Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.” Matthew 26:62-64

Ok, so I was thinking about stuff today. I was wondering how we’re supposed to act/react when we’re betrayed, backstabbed and falsely accused. I mean… ok, an example. For years you’re friends with someone… in fact, you’re best friends…. Then out of nowhere they decide they don’t like you anymore… They accuse you of doing all kinds of horrible things, they tell other people that you did these horrible things and completely drop you for, what you think, is absolutely no reason. You try talking to them about it, to see what you did to make them mad at you, but they never are straight with you. They beat around the bush, dodging your questions with vague answers, but then continue to be mad at you.

So, as I was thinking about the best way to handle a situation like that, I asked my Daddy God what should be done. He made me think of when Jesus was put on trial. I went and looked up the verses above. When Jesus was on trial, He was accused of doing, being and saying things that were awful by the standard of Jewish law. But through all that… Jesus remained silent. He didn’t say anything. He could have defended Himself. I would have if I were in His position. But He just stayed silent; not a word. Finally, the high priest gets so fed up with the fact that Jesus isn’t answering him that he brings the interrogation to a climax, “Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Right here I think its coming up to a point where the priest is essentially saying, “Even after you’ve done all this crap, can you still call yourself the Son of God?” And Jesus reply is “Yes, it is as you say.”

His actions were misunderstood, turned against Him and used as the very reasons for His death… and yet He never bothered to correct them. Even more amazing, He never doubted that He was the Son of God. Try to put yourself in that position for a minute. You’re being accused of breaking the Law, the one that is supposed to judge whether or not you are a follower of God. I’m thinking if I’m in that position I’m gonna start questioning if maybe these people are right. I mean, the law was given by God, right? But Jesus’ faith in His Father never failed once. He never once doubted that He was the Son of God.

Wanna know something? You and me? We’re children of God too. No matter what people accuse us of doing, no matter how much we may be betrayed by others, even other believers (Jesus was betrayed by one of His own followers), no matter what, nothing can change the fact that we are God’s children. Nothing. That knowledge in and of itself should be enough for us to stand on. We don’t have to be right, we don’t have to be understood… we just need to know that we are God’s child. He loves you. He chose you. Nothing else matters.

We betrayed Him, But He loved us. We crucified Him but He has given us life.
To gain the lost to our Jesus Christ we may have to suffer a little, but the reward will be great. Luke 10; 3 Go I am sending you like lamps amoung wolves. Luke 9; 23 If anyone wants to come with me, he must forget himself, take up his cross every day, and follow me.

Wonderful post! I pray that the next time someone offends me or hurts me that Jesus will help me to be like Him. Too much of myself surfaces especially when friends misunderstand me. Please help us lord Jesus.

Here's a reminder...

Very very insightful post. It blessed me very much!! We need to keep our eyes off man and keep them on Jesus, it's what He thinks about us that counts in all we do.

Thank you!
