You know what? I played through Half-Life over the weekend for the first time in about two years. It has aged so well. It's like Goldie Hawn ten years ago.
And Half-Life is from 1998! It's absolutely amazing, and the game's "feel" is enveloping and is as immersive as a hug from Rosie O'Donnel.

FPS-Deus Ex
RTS-Total Annihlation of course.
RPG-I'll have to say Tales of Phantasia.
Turn-Based Strategy-I don't really play much of those but probably Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (but it's a bit like RPG so I don't know if it counts).
Fighter-Super Smash Brothers hands down (I haven't played SSB:M so I didn't put that).
Sports-I don't play sport games but I guess racing would count so I'd say Mario Kart or Wipeout 64.

Plus, I like GTA Vice City, Super Smash Brothers (haven't played Melee yet) and Deus Ex. I have many more games but those are the ones worth mentioning. Fav game is still TA though, followed by Halo and King of Fighters.

Halo is cool, but I only have it for PC. For some reasons though it lags, even though the computer I use for it is 2.8ghz, 128MB Radeon something and 512 RAM.

Other wise it would be like watching Empire Strikes Back before watching star wars. I belive some countries still have the death penalty for doing that and quite right too
