Sorry for the non-Reformed interjection again, but I also have learned a lot from Z. Ursinus' Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism but have heard not many Reformed folks today read him. Is that true?
Westminster Confession all the way and the reason why it has such a strong tone is because it's a document that faught tyrany.
Actually if you know the history of the WCF you would know that it was written in the context where the Divines along with the English Parliment were fighting the English Crown. The original WCF gave strong powers to the civil migistrate because of the problems that went along with having a king.It has a stronger tone because it was a governmental document from a church with government support. The Heidelburg was written from a position of defence and persecution from Catholics. Instead of telling the churches what to teach the Heidelburg explained what it taught and why from a different stand point.
Dabney and Shedd, weren't they Aymraldian?

Read REX LEX by Samuel Ratherford.
IDK, I'm not too fond of Dabney because of his kinist tendencies. I'm unfamiliar with Shedd.
Sorry you are right LAW is King....LEX REX. Countered the kings REX LEX.Yup, burn the Baptists. They gave themselves power to enforce religion on the people.
I have, maybe you haven't...it's called LEX REX and not REX LEX.
Dabney and Shedd explain the atonement like an Amyraldian.
