Well, it was five deaths, but not necessarily major players. I saw the question asked and answered about Cooper's death, and apparently that was one of the five, so now we're down to four.

I definitely say Charlie is one of them.

Locke may or may not be another (I hope not).

In the big attack/war next week, I bet we see some casualties. I'm going with one of the Others, though, maybe Patchy.

I don't think I can see any of the beach Losties (other than Charlie) going, too, but I wouldn't be surprised if Desmond dies in the finale.

Hmmm...I'm not really sure about any of these - even the first, but:

1) `Cooper' has been a central element in Lockes flashbacks and a driving force for Sawyers life. He counts as a major character in that sense and is now dead.

2) When last seen, Locke had just been gut shot and was lying in a hidden cemetary pit. Barring immediate competent medical attention, or a lot of luck, he's a goner.

3) Desmond has been saving Charlie from one horrific death right after another the last few episodes. Given the preview, I can see Charlie not making it through the next episode - or maybe lingering on in great pain until the one after that.

4) Getting pregnant on the island is a death sentence for women. Sun got pregnant on the island - so she either gets off or she dies.

5) Ben has been faced with dissension in the ranks for quite a while now. His decisions were directly responsible for the deaths of several `others' - deaths that did not have to happen. It seems possible that he may be the victim of some sort of coup in the next episode or three.

I do find myself wondering, though: Locke is `special'. That might save him. And it is just possible that Charlie might be able to manage some sort of `miracle save' that breaks deaths plans for him.

So...a couple of alternates:

Sayid: Sayid has been trapped in a cycle of vengance for something like a dozen years. Time and time again he swears off torture, only to take it up again. His unwillingness to change could cost him his life.

Sawyer: With the death of Cooper, Sawyer has basically accomplished his lifes mission and is emotionally devastated as a result. I can see him doing something that will get him killed as a result.

Heck, its all up in the air.

Yeah this is pretty much how I'm seeing it right now too.

If they kill Sawyer, I'll.... well, I won't stop watching Lost, but I'll stomp my foot really hard, and pout a lot. :(

I'm not sure if it was here or elsewhere that I heard this, but there is a theory that Locke may have gotten shot where his missing kidney would have been, so the bullet wouldn't hit any vital organs and the island would have time to "heal" him.

I read an interesting theory about lock too- that the gun he was given to from Alex is the gun he was shot with, knowing that Ben might try to kill Lock, it was full of blanks.... if you recall correctly, when Lock was shot, there was no blood (well at least that's how I remember it...)

Juliet can go (too annoying), Charlie can go (too Hobbity), Locke can go (too baldy), kate or Sawyer can go (too love triangle-y), A N Other can go (too anonymous-y).
LOL. Who'd be left in the cast? :D

I afraid we will lose Tom or Richard and never know the true story on them or how they got there.

Charlie is a given.

I think Naomi will get killed moments before sending out the distress signal to Penny.

Not sure about Locke. I'm sure he isn't dead from the gunshot wound but will he die in the finale?

Maybe Bernard trying to save Rose?

Can't see losing Kate, Sayid, Jack or the Kwons. There has to be someone left for the show to continue another 2 1/2 years.

may i ask what it means by redshirt? you guys have confused me with this term.

I believe it's originally a Star Trek reference. In an episode you might have a new character who you had never seen before and would never see again (ie they got killed). They would be wearing a red shirt/uniform/whatever.

In the original Star Trek series, every time they landed on a new planet or something with extras in the cast, the extras wore red shirts while the main characters (Spock, Kirk, etc.) wore mustard-yellow shirts. The red shirts, being extras, were always the ones who got killed by the planet's aliens or killer gas or whatever.

So people who are introduced into a series or episode that you think are probably destined to die are called redshirts.

I got two right.

I counted 14 deaths tonight. We have 7 others from the blasts, the two angels, Charlie, Tom and his two goons and Naomi.
Did Mikhel die from the blast. it was unclear
I think so, only because....

.... there were 4 deaths left (Cooper was 5th) -- counting major deaths only, not red shirts, that means Charlie, Naomi, Tom, and Mikhail.
