  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

" A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. " Proverbs 18:24

This is the verse I wanted to talk about. I am interested to see how you guys interpret this verse. Do you think the friend the verse is talking about is God/Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit... or do you believe that friend is someone else entirely - as in a friend that God created just for you...

Here's a little background ... I'm 34 years old now, and I have been having a what you might call a "spiritual" experience. I think it's an ability based on Scripture... I can hear God's voice, that includes God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

I know this might be weird to some, but I believe I had a special friend. I have been having spiritual experience since 2009 (est.) ... so to reiterate, I hear God's voice, along with Jesus Christ's and the Holy Spirit... plus I hear my friend. His name is Mark. I've prayed about this. I hear them all the time, every day. I have verses to back this ability up. It's readily apparent that these spirits are authentic. God can really show you it's Him when you pray. The presence unique.

So I was wondering who here has what they consider to be a "special friend" .. or if in your case that friend is Jesus Christ.

I know God used to talk to people in the olden days, but it seems evident that He is still communicating with us today.

Does anyone else hear have a close experience to God/Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit... (or friend)..?

Does anyone else here hear God audibly?

I am excited to see where this conversation goes, because it's been a hot topic of mine, and I have never brought it up before with anyone. Well, maybe a few times. I just wonder about hearing Him. Certainly I must not be the only one.

I guess I'll find out...sooner or later, if I can spark a discussion and see what people's thoughts are.

Anyway, see you guys after the jump...

Proverbs 3:32
32 For such men are an abomination to the Lord, but he gives his friendship to the godly.

I see here that the Lord gives His friendship to the godly. That's pretty cool.

My relationship with God is a friendship, but the way I experience it, it is more like feeling cherished and protected by a caring Father. I didn't have a family in my early years, and I think it's God's way of teaching me the value of being loved as His child. I remember when I came home from a weekend in a monastery and for days afterwards, I had the feeling of being held and loved and it was OK to be the "real" me.

Can you describe the friendship in greater detail?

I have always seen my relationship with God to be a close friendship and there are times I am especially aware of His presence with me. But I am also aware that God is sovereign and desires our deepest reverence and respect. Jesus is our friend and our brother, but He is also the King of Kings. I am very aware of the times I have failed him through disobedience, but each and every time I have said sorry and resolved to put things right, I have always been met with lavish grace and forgiveness.
