Best FPS franchise

I voted Doom, since it's a classic and was an inspiration for the more modern FPSs. Have yet to play Doom III though (gonna get it for XBox). As of right now my favorite FPS is Halo 2.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to vote -- Halo and Rainbow Six have me torn. One option, however, that is notably missing is Tribes, which is one of the best online shooters I've ever played.

I voted for Medal of Honor. I didn't find any of the games as good as say, Half Life 2 or Halo, but overall I think they had a much better atmosphere and story(you can't beat killing evil Nazis!). I found myself immersed much more in any Metal of Honor game than I did in anything else.

I hate Counter-Strike but I think HL because of the mod community and a great single player game. One of the few games that I've actually shelled money out for. I think you should have added Quake.

I think that was the game that got me into FPS game because I actually prefer adventure games and RPG's.

Call of Duty is neither new (well Finest Hour is, I suppose), nor a part of the medal of honor series, but is great. The only problem that I had with it was the large number of multi-player maps heavily geared towards snipers; but aside from that it was near perfection and is one of the only two fps that I play (along with unreal tournament 2004).

Unreal Tournament. For having developers that actually care about the customers by releasing patches that remove their CD protection after several months.

Valve and its ilk are the exact opposite.
