well look at that! had no idea.

I plan on ordering some when there's some reviews. I'd pay a lot for it to have a decent font size... my current ESV, wonderful though it is, is fine for me. I cannot give one like it to my dad (as he uses the NIV and would prefer something like the ESV) as the text is too small.

Another possibility is the "Orthodox Study Bible" which was just completed in full and released last year.

The obvious problem with that Bible is that the Old Testament is translated from the Greek LXX, not from the Hebrew.

I was just about to bring this point up.

My favorite dynamic translation with Apocrypha is the Good News Translation- it's pretty accurate most of the time.

My favorite formal translation with Apocrypha would probably be the Jerusalem Bible, even though it often borders on dynamic.

Just one more to go until it all gets "real."

I take the General Ordination Exams Jan 5-9.

You have to take an exam? We don't have to. We just have loads of essays and a dissertation at the end.

What does the exam cover?

You guys have it "easy" (LOL)- I had to hand in loads of essays and take exams.

Good luck to both of you!

Is there any plans to have NIV with Apocrypha? That's the translation I'm using and I really enjoy it.

The NIV- while a good translation in itself- is translated by Evangelicals, so I doubt it very much.

ESV is my favorite general purpose translation, and I've fallen in love with my new ESV Study Bible. Sadly, it does not include the Apocrypha. My best Bibles with Apocrypha are the Catholic Study Bible (NAB) and The Access Bible (NRSV).
