I think Benny Hinn is slightly confused here. I do think his teachings come from a pure heart unlike some earlier posters who also said that the gifts can come and go, when we know from Romans 11.32 that the gifts remain.

Essentially Benny Hinn is correct on his three points:

1. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are without repentance (Romans 11.32). This means that if you can prophecy, you can always prophecy. If you are a miracle worker you can always work miracles. God will not take the lollipops away from us if we have been naughty children, that is not His nature.

2. The presence of the Lord in a tangible sense is not consistent. This is absolutely true - sometimes we feel God is present, sometimes we do not. However, our walk with God is a faith walk, not a feeling walk and how intensely we feel the presence of God is not a correlative of our holiness.

3. The priestly anointing is the anointing of fellowship. All priests were anointed to be able to stand in the presence of God. As New Covenant believers, we are all priests and all have the anointing of God (1 John 2.20) and can stand freely in the presence of God.

Benny is wrong on the following two issues:

1. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the priestly anointing. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for power to witness, not to fellowship with the Lord. You can fellowship with the Lord before you are baptised in the Holy Spirit. When you are born again, you are anointed as a priest, prophet and king.

2. That the presence leaves due to sin. Sometimes you feel God, sometimes you don't. You walk by faith and not by feelings though and do the Word no matter what.

If you believed what Benny taught here and you did not feel the presence of God one day, you would feel condemned and immediately focus on sin. If you realize the teaching of the Word, if you did not feel the presence of the Lord one day you would thank God that He still loves you and that Jesus died for you so you know that He will never leave you no matter what you feel. Then your focus is on Jesus.

Guess which one is the key focus: sin or Jesus?!

Hope this helps,
Benjamin
