Umm I was a medium and God is a gentleman when the Holy Spirit takes over it is nothing like being possessed by devils. Its more uplifting, not so draining and so forth.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was never possessed, but I've seen those that were.

As we thank God and continue to praise him that we have received, some people begin to feel something bubbling up in their belly area, like a river wants to pour out of them, they may 'hear' or 'sense' strange sounds rising up from deep within or popping into their mind. This is the Spirit giving them the utterance.

At this point, it is then up to us to cooperate and flow with the Spirit by speaking forth those sounds and syllables (yes there are those who ignore and refuse the utterance, for whatever reasons). As they do so and continue in faith, sooner or later, the rivers burst forth and out comes all the words faster than a bullet train.

When this stage is reached, you no longer have to 'hear-n-repeat' -- it is spontaneous and automatic and bypasses the brain, coming straight from the spirit.

That is what happen to me. Hahaha! Glory! Glory! Glory be the LORD!

I am adding my two cents in again quite awhile after this thread has stopped being so active - through reading this post, I think that the only conclusion I have come to is that God acts in a very personal way with all of us. He knows what we individually can handle, and I guess all that really counts is patience in this regard of physically showing miraculous (or at least, miraculous in my mind) signs of the holy spirit. It'll happen in God's time if it is meant to happen. Loooooovely topic, everyone!!

Exactly, "...I will pray with the spirit..." signifies Paul's choice or determination that he "will" pray with the spirit...

"..let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God." again demonstrated control or choice when it comes to praying in the Spirit.

(I have officially tossed my hat into the ring good to be here... I always enjoy these discussions )
