  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have heard Penecostal preachers speak of the Bema judgment of the Saints. Where and when does this judgment take place? Is it seperate from the Great White Throne judgment
I have only heard this teaching within Pentecostal circles. I think it is a doctrine that is soley theirs. The Bema judgment supposedly takes place in heaven after the rapture. It is a judgment for believers only.

In Christ,

Hi forum,

Appears to be the jargon of certain groups. Bema apparently is the Greek word for judgment. Judgment seat, hence Bema, appears in the bible two times, Romans 14:10, 2 Cor 5:10.

Yes, the Bena judgment is supposed to be more of an awards ceremony for the Saints, as their judgment for sins was already taken care of a the cross and covered by the blood of the lamb- Jesus. I just do not see this fitting in with the seperation of the goats and the sheep of Mat.25:32,33 or the Great White throne judgment. I do see two types of judgment, but not the time-line of them - whether together or at seperate dates.
Perhaps I should ask in the Charasmatic forum, but I assumed that they would join in for this forum on eschatology. Thanks for your reply.

Greetings All,

The Bema Seat Judgment is so connotated to differentiate it from the Great White Throne Judgment. These two are separated by the 1,000 year reign of Christ on this earth. At the Bema Seat, Christians will be "judged" for the works that was done in the flesh, for good AND bad. The works NOT done through Christ are "burnt up", and for works DONE through Christ, rewards are given.

As for the sheep and the goats, as with many other passages in the Bible, but particularly the NT, a comparison of two ideas (two judgments) is frequently made without regard to a "time frame", (i.e. in this case, 1,000 years separating the 2 judgments). It is left to the book of Revelation to explain further what these things mean.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie
