Hey all,

Thought it was time to resurect the "Belief-O-Matic" quiz.

http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

Generally, I think it is well-done, though I would defintley change one or two questions, and add some others, but anyhoo....

Here's what I got:

1. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (100%)
2. Eastern Orthodox (89%)
3. Roman Catholic (89%)
4. Seventh Day Adventist (88%)
5. Orthodox Quaker (86%)

Reading the decriptions, I would have to agree that for the most part I do hold the beliefs of a Mainline to Conservative Christian, howeve I disagree with their decriptions of The Origin of Life and take on a more Orthodox / Catholic viewpoint of Genesis not necessarily being literal and in contrast to science, but fun quiz anyway

I'm not so sure about the results. 20 questions are not enough to assess a persons beliefs, and I only answered 19 because there was no correct answer for accessing eternal life.

I think that it was somewhat accurate of my beliefs. Especially the top one. I don't like that my scores for morman and jehovahs witness were so high though. Not that this really reflects my beliefs all the way though.

I'm not surprised that my atheism scores are so low. I find the idea that "no God created us" idiotic. The world's way too complicated for that.

Some of those were a bit insulting - Mormonism is #5? What? Mormons' faith is radically different from mine - the top 3 kinda give a fairly good mix of what I beleive for the most part. Bahá'í is not really close to what I beleive either... little bit disappointed in the quiz and a bit annoyed too - too many questions seemed oddly worded and had wierd answers.

EDIT: Actually, 7th Day Adventists seem to have all the same answers/tenets as I do for the most part - the contemporary issues is a bit fuzzy, but I think everything else is about the same.

Fish and Bread posted this in another thread in regard to the Mormon thing:

It's probably that nature of God question. A mainline Christian could easily answer that God has a physical body, thinking it was referring to Jesus, but, actually, it seems to me as though they actually mean the question to refer to God the Father. So, the quiz says "Oh, he thinks God the Father has a physical body, must be Mormon". I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

..............

Yea, i think thats about right. I dont know what all Quakers or Seventh day adventists' believe, so i wouldnt know how to respond. But they still got 16% lower than what i would follow as my main beliefs.

yea, some of those questions were a little weird, the answers too. Oh well.
