  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Can the devil actually seduce you with wealth because it’s been happening to me for awhile now and I honestly have no way to get out as prayers aren’t working maybe I’m doing it wrong or maybe god has a plan for me idk. Anyway I was reading an article and pope Francis was talking about it what are your thoughts on the topic. I’ll post a snippet of the article below

Every day, the devil tries to trick and seduce people with promises of riches, grandeur and power, Pope Francis said.

Satan “sows snares and is a seducer. He seduces with charm, with diabolical charm, he leads you to believe everything. He knows how to sell with this charm, he sells well, but he pays badly in the end,” the pope said in a morning homily.

you know that since Christ died and went to hell and resurrected again that the devil lost all power in this world right? the only power the devil has is the power you give him. the reason you are having problems with wealth is because you have made it an idol in your life. just as the bible tells us that Jesus has nothing the devil could grab onto to tempt him. this is referring to personal and not external influences. the personal issues you are struggling against in your life are most likely your weak points that are getting attacked.

what you need to do is get into the Word and search for scriptures that you can stand upon as you declare war against your problem. wealth is made to support you not rule you. so once you find the scriptures you feel are for you then keep quoting them to yourself. some people write their scriptures and post them all over the house to help remind them. whenever the temptation arises again quote those scriptures and you will see a turn around happen in you life.

hope this helped God bless

Wealth isn't the problem. There are many wealthy people who use their money to aid the needy, support education, art, and other institutions. It's your relation to wealth that's the issue. Some people worship it as a God or use it to gain power for evil purposes.

The challenge with money for many is it impacts their relationship with God and diminishes their dependency on Him in more ways than they'll admit. You need strong faith, a solid prayer life, and a vision that hails from Him to keep things balanced.

For significant wealth, I recommend a charitable plan as well. You can develop a foundation or support worthy causes. This averts hoarding and fosters a generous spirit.

Reference the Parable of the Talents.

God entrusts us with many things. He expects us to use what He's given to the best of our ability as good stewards. Our portion isn't random. If we're given much; much is expected in return.

In respect to Satan, wealth is one of the tools he uses to lure unbelievers and sabotage a Christian's ministry. Keep in mind. If he can't keep you from trusting Christ and following Him, the next goal is to make you ineffective. That's equally bad and affects the Body too.

The best way to address this spiritually is to pray against your weaknesses and the spirits that usually follow. In respect to wealth, that's often greed but can include pride, lust, and vanity too. The key is to pinpoint the thoughts and emotions you're experiencing as a result of the wealth or its acquisition. Those are the things that will feed a negative outcome.

Hi Notmyname, of course he can, and does. There are great warnings and admonishments in the Bible about the proper use/possession of $$, both in the Gospels and the Epistles .. e.g. Mark 10:25, Luke 12:15-21, 16:13; 2 Corinthians 9:6-71 Timothy 6:10. Having great wealth can interfere with a Christian's walk, which is one of the big reasons that "giving" of both our income AND our wealth is taught, in the OT and the New.

Proverbs 3
9 Honor the LORD from your wealth,
And from the first of all your produce;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.

--David
p.s. - this book about giving may prove useful to you: The Key to Everything by Jack Hayford

Luke 12
33 Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

No one is immune from greed or temptation to materialism. The typical Christian has an ongoing battle with sin, and we must be vigilant in spiritual warfare. Jesus said "abide in Me, for apart from Me you can do nothing." Our growth in faith and maturity involves perseverance of faith.

Your OP begs the question, what are you in that you can't get out of? gambling? crime? spending excessive time trying to make money (to the detriment of others)? Sometimes it is difficult to discern between God's blessing and the devil's temptation. If you master the money, it's God's blessing. If the money masters you, then you're in the devil's trap. If you are supporting something unethical, then you should separate from it.

The bottom line is, you must be willing to let it all go and let Christ be your only master. It doesn't mean you have to vow poverty, but just be willing to do so if God clearly tells you. In the meantime, you can use the wealth you receive to generously help others. The idea is to be a good steward of it, since all you have and are really belongs to God.

I neglected to provide a resource in my response. Crown Financial Ministries has wonderful books and tools that very helpful. Dave Ramsey studied with the founder and Larry Burkett was influenced by Judaism. I've taken their course and I have a background in finance. I recommend it.

Give more. Giving is an antidote to greed.
