  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Being "born again" to know God

BRIEF UNDERSTANDING OF SALVATION
[By R. L. DeWitt]

There are many good testimonial messages by real believers in Christ about how to be saved for Heaven and eternity, but the question that is often asked of Christians is: How do you know you are saved? The awakening and experience many saints have had within their heart and mind is revealing to their soul, when they found that a simple and serious seeking of God in a honest way is indeed rewarded by God. It is not a long process once the decision is made to surrender the will and truly believe God's Word (see John 14), for God comes to dwell in man by His Holy Spirit and one will know His presence. Consider what to do and what is done:

A. Believing truthfully without doubt there is a Creator-God is paramount, and that with much evidence seen in the marvelous forming of man (truly not an accidental phenomena, as doubters like to say) with a gift of some ability and creativeness even like unto the Father/Maker (Gen. 1 & 2); also in the wondrous world and universe with such intricate detail, order, systems of weather, seasons, light, heat, reproduction of life ---no half man-apes as evolutionists claim, etc. is all revealing to a perceptive soul;

B. Believing that the Bible is the Word of God and dependable for a honest seeker, for God is the author and not men; for God will not hold man responsible for anything He has not shown us in His Word. Being a serious seeker after salvation for the eternal soul forever, has shown many seekers the truth about knowing God in all God's Word of the New Testament ---which is made known to believers by the Spirit of God to be absolutely the "Word of Truth" as He says (I much appreciate the KJV Bible as making this very clear) . One must be willing to believe that God has been and is speaking to His people; and appreciate that our Creator wants us to know and trust Him, and not just wander and wonder. This is fundamental;

C. God wants mankind to be saved more than man wants it, so we can depend on the Gospels and "all the counsel of God" as He says, which shows we are born in sin (self-indulgence, a rebellious spirit, and desire for independence) and must be "born again" by the Holy Spirit of God to dwell in Heaven after this life, as we are told; and that is only in receiving the Lord Jesus (John 14:6).

D. Reading such as John 1; John 3; John 14, etc. will make all these real and eternal issues very clear, and all other Bible references being supportive; and prophecy of olden times being fulfilled in the New Testament shows the true workings of our God;

E. Many saints over the centuries have confessed the Lord Jesus as their Savior and did as the Lord said in His Word, and it has proven to be true in their life over a lifetime without doubt ---the very presence of God in the saints;

F. When one bows down before God and confesses they know they are born a sinner before God, and receives the Savior ---the Lord Jesus, into their heart, who paid the price of redemption by His own suffering and death, they will surely be sealed by the indwelling Holy Spirit of God and thus have fellowship with the Lord Jesus and His Father. That presence of God in one is assurance and comfort for the soul that daily walks and talks with Him.

G. One needs to make the Lord Jesus their best Friend and lord of their life for peace and joy forever. He has said: "I will never leave you nor forsake you". The hope we have in Him will preserve us all the way home to Heaven where we will dwell with our Lord in the Father's house forever.

I hope this helps others. One needs to know that to deny the Bible message is allowing Satan to deceive one from eternal truth, so let us daily read the Bible, beginning in the New Testament first. - RLD
