  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Stormy...

I know what you are feeling...

I started on a whim, with a flip of distaste and disgust for the way I was brought up, my family environment, whatever was my rage-high of the moment. But I know what you are feeling, for I feel it as well, everyday... when I wake up, when I sleep, when I eat, when I work, when I play, when I sin, when I win, when I am destroyed, when I feel the influx of the Holy Spirit lighting up my every cell like an atom bomb...

I know the drawing that you are feeling. I have a Rosary. VOW gave it to me. I am not a Catholic. I carry the Rosary every day, everywhere. Sometimes, I pray the Rosary.

Since I have begun my journey, I have changed my major, left home, learned how to drive a car, learned how to take care of myself, learned how to fight depression, anxiety, and sin, resolved to get a job, started a weight-training program, discovered God's mystery, and gained a spiritual mother with unconditional love that springs forth from her every pore and covers me in a feeling so overwhelming that it flings me to the ground on my knees in prayer. I ask you... when does the Holy Spirit of God move?

eggs: I appreciate your answer. It is what I need. Even now I am crying feeling that I am somehow allowing myself to be more and making God to be less by not coming to his Church.

I do not wish to discuss individual doctrine. I do not wish to debate. I would like suggestions on reading material that may instead help me to accept and understand. Please do not tell me to talk to a Priest. I am not to that point and would feel foolish. See... again it is about me.:sigh:

Ask my anything sister, I was where you were earlier this year and can offer answers to you.

Do you who are Catholic feel one with the Church?
Do you truly agree with all the doctrine?

Yes. I am still in the process of conversion, but it grows more true as I continue. I can barely help screaming the message of Christ to Protestants, as you know.

How do I get from here to there?

By doing exactly what you are doing. Being honest with yourself and asking honest people questions about it. But most of all, just let God guide you.

For now I want to step back out of all the dogma, droctrine, and debates.

I just want to read and pray.

You are all so kind.

Thank you. :)

Sounds good. Always pray for guidance!

I am working on a Catholicism FAQ, if you are interested, but I'm sure there will be more that you wonder about.

Seebs...I apologize if I were harsh or not understanding you right.

It's okay to be a doubting Thomas sometimes, but Jesus said to him, "...do not be unbelieving, but believe...blessed are those that have not seen and believe.

Yup. And I've never seen a shred of evidence I can't come up with alternative explanations for, but I believe anyway. In God, anyway. In God I trust; all others pay cash. :)

4. If, indeed, Chick is right, and the Church is some kind of trap, it *would* be awfully appealing.

5. If Chick is wrong, and the Church is indeed the Church Christ established, still intact after all this time, then it *would* be awfully appealing.

oh boy, trust me Chich is about as wrong as you can get.

I certainly think so; I consider him a compelling reason to believe in supernatural evil. However... I am a skeptic at heart, and try to reserve judgement.
