"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10:15.
Oh, if we could always walk with soft and tender feet, with peace of mind; the peace that Jesus gives us, as His peace surpasses all understanding.
If we could always see Jesus in others, and treat them like we would treat Jesus, whom we love so dearly. This Summer, these verses in Matthew 25 have spoken so clearly to me: Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
I went to London for some days this Summer with my daughter. And there one evening, I saw a homeless beggar on the sidewalk, not so far from the hotel where we stayed. I just KNEW that I had to stop and talk with him and bless him. God spoke so directly to my heart, and I just HAD to obey. What a blessing it was to me to meet that wonderful man! I talked with him about his situation, gave him some change, which he had asked for, and I told him that he was so loved by God, and we had such a blessed moment in time, this precious beggar and I. I said a blessing upon him before I gave him a hug and went back to the hotelroom. I had tears in my eyes. I saw Jesus in that man. God taught me many lessons the days and weeks after that meeting. I think I was more blessed than the beggar by that meeting.
I wrote a little poem not many weeks ago, that I called Barefoot angels, which I posted in the Writers guild forum, and here it is. May God bless you all with His peace.
BAREFOOT ANGELS
Oh, Lord, if I could only be like a barefoot angel...
Then I would walk with li'l soft and tender feet,
not hurting as much as a fragile stem of a weed,
or a tiny little bud, not sure of unfolding a petal,
- so afraid of being crushed by harsh soles of metal.
I would fly on transparent wings reflecting Your light,
to a world with so much darkness, violence and fright,
and bring tidings of salvation and speak of what's true,
that's my heart's true desire, to bring love from You.
