  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If not for the itchiness, and the fact that that they seem to close more doors than they open in my little corner of the world, I wouldn't mind wearing a full beard. Sometimes, I sport the stubble look. It's fun to change things up every now and then.

Well I'm picky. I like what paul posted, but not the posts at the beginning of this that showed, like, 8 inch long beards. I find facial hair rather sexy, on a guy's face.
If it's long, I look at them like... seriously, why did you glue a tumbleweed to your shirt?

That's a great beard you've got there, Paul... Mine is a wee bit fuller, and I've got a bit of moustache to go with it. It's a deep reddish brown.

Nice! Yeah, mine does get thicker than that, but it doesn't ever want to grow long/grow downward. It just tends to grow outward haha. Eventually it gets a bit out of control and I have to shave it again.

Ha, I managed to dig up a few scary examples...

Beardless (2008) - this picture scares the pants off me.

Medium beard, where I usually keep it.

Thicker, but not the thickest I've grown it. I'm not gonna lie, when I bust out the thick beard with my flannel - the ladies swoon. Okay I'm lying.

Your hair is too light.. it won't match my hair color.. : (

Although I guess I could dye? If that's possible.. lol.

Sure just throw a little shoe polish on there. Boom. Sideburns.

The clean shaven job thing is so alien to me, pretty much every guy at my job has a goatee. Clean shaven men just look like little kids.

The one me rule though: don't dye or color your facial hair. If it's red, it's red; if it's gray, it's gray. Dyed facial hair is even weirder than no facial hair at all.

I'm with ya there. Nobody messes with my department about dress codes and appearance matters, at least half of us have beards of varying lengths. I just discovered I have this thin ring of white-blond facial hair surrounding my mouth - never noticed it before. I was a towhead when I was a kid so maybe that's it.

Oh, it's possible. But if you do it wrong, you can all too easily end up looking like Hitler. Just google "beard dye" for all the possibilities.

PS: One of my friends once told me that whatever you do, don't try putting Nair on your face as a shortcut for shaping your goatee. The consequences sounded horrifying! :o

Really? Where I work I'm pretty much the only guy with facial hair..

Almost every day this Chinese guy who can't speak English tells me to shave it all off.. lol..

Makes the scissor hand gesture and everything..
