Satan is such a clever creature. He has been distorting what God has said from the very beginning. He even has an established system of false worship that has it's root in Babylon. This system has changed God's Law and God's times. It even changed the day of Jesus' birth and death, as well as, the day of His resurrection.
Jesus said He would be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
Lev. 23 teaches us the events of crucifixion week, which had to be accurately fulfilled by Jesus. According to Lev. 23, Passover is to be at sunset on the 14th day of the month, which was on Tuesday that year. This is when Jesus gave the bread and wine and told Judas to do quickly what he was going to do. Jesus was arrested Tuesday night and was crucified Wednesday and was placed in the tomb Wednesday just around sunset. Thursday, the 15th day of the same month, was the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, this was a Sabbath day but it wasn't a normal Sabbath, but rather, it was a high Sabbath because it only came once a year.
At sunrise Friday the high Sabbath was over, Mary bought spices to anoint Jesus' body that Friday. She prepared the spices all day Friday and then rested on the seventh day Sabbath, according to the commandment. She then went to the tomb at sunrise Sabbath morning and found the tomb empty because Sabbath morning at sunrise was the third day.
When you read the words, "on the first day of the week" they are a distortion of truth to cause you to believe the Sabbath is Sunday and that Jesus resurrected on Sunday. These four words, "day of the week" are actually one word in the Greek and it's the word, Sabbath. What it should say is, "on the first Sabbath" not "on the first day of the week".
Why was it called the first Sabbath? Because, according to Lev. 23, they had to count seven Sabbaths starting after the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which was the high Sabbath. They were to count seven Sabbaths which calculates to 49 days then, according to Lev. 23, they were to add one more day to make 50. This was how they determined the day of Pentecost.
The disciples never gathered on Sunday, nor did Jesus die on Friday and resurrect on Sunday. This is a great deception.
Satan has gotten the whole world deceived, just like God said.
