Be Kind and Rewind
The other day the Lord gave me an interesting definition of forgiveness. We used to rent video tapes some time ago. Pasted on each tape was a message that read: "Be kind and rewind." The Lord said to me that forgiveness is like that, only we don't play the same video again. Yet, it is like rewinding and starting over.
There are no guarantees with forgiveness, though, that the person we forgive won't play the same video again and again and that we won't have to keep being kind and rewinding. Jesus said that we should forgive seventy times seven, i.e. that... we should forgive every time. Yet, with forgiveness should always be, where possible, the restoring process where we hopefully help the person to play a different video, yet there are no guarantees with that either. Yet, I am so thankful that Jesus is kind and that he rewinds and that he forgives again and again and again and forever and ever. Amen!
