  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Be careful

I came across this verse while reading 1 Cor on the subway. Although I have read this letter several times, I didn't remember this verse.

It really jumped out at me:

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

10:12 (KJV).

I don't think that I have been standing that well, so I am not sure why the verse convicted me.

Anyway, wanted to share....

This verse is an exhortation for those who are proud of their Righteous living.

This has happened to me. Sometimes when i became too proud of being Righteous, i fell into UnRighteousness. God had to bring me low so that i would become humble again and enable God to lift me up.

I think this kind of experience young christians do face now and then.

Lord bless you for posting the blessed verse as a reminder for all of us.

It is better to fall and be level-headed rather than being filled with spiritual pride. One need not deliberately fall, it just happens, over a period of time, when pride gets into us. Our pride slowly deteriorates us spiritually and we end up at a lower spiritual level than what we were before.

The saying "Pride goes before a fall" is very much truthful.

There is also one more truthful saying in the Bible -

He who humbles himself shall be exalted and He who exalts himself shall be humbled.

This is the reason why Apostle Paul writes to Timothy that a Christian Leader should not be a novice (in the area of spirituality) because he is in a danger of being lifted up with pride and may fall -

1 Timothy 3:6 - Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Lord bless you.
