OK, well I am a bit on edge. I have not felt well for a few months and now I am itching to get back in the gym.

I am just really unsure and nervous about it.

Has anyone else felt this way after a long time away?

I havent gone to the gym so much over the last semester, got really depressed, and was eating lots of processed food, as a result the weight piled on, and am now about 30 kilos heavier than I thought I was.

Discovered this after having an appointment at the hospital and discovering that huge weight gain

It was a total wakeup call.

So have not have any coke or any carbonated drinks for at least 3 weeks and have started going to weight watchers as a way of learning to eat healthily. So far lost about 4 kilos.

Only 999 kilos to go^_^

Really enjoying salads, with capsicum, tomato, carrot, cucumber, lettuce, pumpkin seeds and sun flower seeds I've found that cutting out the sugary drinks has reduced my sugar cravings which has been awesome.

I'm 5'8" and finally got down to my goal weight of 165 (I'd been close to 200 around this time last year), but was just recently put on a new medication for my depression/anxiety that will likely cause me to gain something like 50lbs. I could use the support, do y'all mind if I join you?

We are here to support.
Good advice, Freitag.
Can you convert kilo's to pounds for us Yankees?
I dont think I want to. Its traumatic enough thinking about my weight in kilos^_^ never mind putting it into pounds

I think 1 kilo= 2.3 pounds

As an adult, I've always been 5'10".
Always weighed 110 lbs. Til I got pregnant at age 33.
Lost a bunch of it afterwards and was about 130.
Which is what those weigh yourself for 50cents machines tells me I should weigh.
Now I am 149, and flabby.
I used to eat lots. Now its weird, I am not used to not eating.

I meant to join this club a week ago.

I began gaining weight after I quit smoking in 1996. I gained and gained and lost only a bit and ended up 185 in May, 2005. Went to Israel for 2 weeks and walked off 20 pounds but then had major asthma attacks and regained 15 pounds. Finally began slowly dropping but it was soooo slow. Then a couple of months ago I read a little book I got at a yard sale written by a Christian woman. She said we are in bondage to our weight and we need to get released. Her recommendations are to fast one meal a day to God by saying, Lord, I love you more than I love this lunch or this dinner. Do not fast breakfast - but other meals are fair game. After while you should eat the other two meals only when you are hungry and stop eating when you are no longer painfully hungry.

This has resulted in 16 pounds gone - about a pound a week. I'm eating 1 meal less most days and eating only when I'm hungry. I also am eating smaller portions. Best yet, I have not given up desserts, carbs, anything - I eat everything I did before.

I've loaned this book to a friend - I'll get the name and author from her and post it.

The trick I'm findiing is to listen to my "inner voice" and am I eating this because I'm hungry or because I'm bored.

Also making sure I have not big but decent sized portions at meal time so the need to snack is less and keeping fruit on hand as to snack on that rather than all manner of junkfood

WOW...not eating a meal. I used to do that and it didn't help. But now that I am diabetic, I can't skip.

I am starting the slow pace of losing but it's good.

I haven't been able to get back in the gym and that is bothering me. I need someone to push me into it but I don't have anyone anymore to do that. :sigh:

How about walking?

I also struggle to do exercise, so instead will park my car further away from the supermarket, so I have to walk, taking the stair instead of the lift

http://www.sparc.org.nz/pushplay/overview

Its an NZ campaign, however they have some really good ideas about doing exercise without having to specifically go to a gym

Freitag - I'm walking better but have breathing problems and the Lord usually blesses me with a close up parking spot! :D Also, my mother used to tell me fruit was as good as candy. She lied to me - nothing's as good as candy. LOL. So except for grapes and cantalope, I'm not a fruit eater! :D

Karrie, what if you figured out what the two meals would be foodwise and split it into 4 smaller ones throughout the day so your blood sugar didn't get messed up?

Oh...this is just what I need. I want to join. Good thread.

I am 47 and had my 3rd child late in life. I had actually turned 45 when I gave birth to Caleb. I gained too much weight during pregnancy--45 to 50 pounds. I was a size 4 before this pregnancy and very happy being tiny.

Well, in the 2 years since I've had Caleb I've lost some weight (very slowly!!!) and gone down 4 sizes...but I'd really prefer to lose more weight. The weight doesn't seem to want to come off. It just sticks there on my belly like gum drops.

This thread is an encouragement as it helps me to remember that so many others struggle. Thanks.

OK kids - I weighed myself yesterday and have lost another 2 pounds. Total of 20 pounds now!

I know it doesn't sound like much, but I walked up a flight of stairs yesterday and didn't even pant. In fact, until a friend pointed it out I hadn't noticed it at all!

I'm still fasting a meal a day to the Lord, mostly lunch. Good breakfast around 9 a.m. and then modest supper around 4 p.m. I'm actually beginning to feel hungry before meals instead of eating because it's "time" to eat.

Thank you, Father, for allowing me to do this to YOUR glory, not mine!
