Strange you bring up Creep, seeing Bono sung a snippet of that during Elevation once. Radiohead's lead singer has acknowledged he's a big fan of U2 - he quoted Please at the end of I Might Be Wrong once. We all know where my vote is going. I know of few - if any - bands that have remained popular, relevant, and innovative 28 years since they first formed, and even if I wasn't a U2 fan, U2 would get my vote simply for that. The Edge is the greatest minimalist to ever pick up a guitar, Bono's an awesome lyricist, and U2 defined the live show by setting the standard all other bands should aspire to. I'm yet to hear a U2 song - apart from Pride - that's even close to being better in the studio than live. Those four men are too restricted by a studio, the space of the stage really unleashes their full potential, and wow, some of what they've done live is awesome. I think the 23 September 1997 Popmart Sarajevo concert was the best live show by any band ever (or maybe that title should go to 5 June 1983 Red Rocks, War Tour), and it amazes me that on 8 August 2001 in Antwerp, they created an entire song from scratch on stage.
We all know I could go on about the greatness of U2 for ages, but my thoughts are summed up very simply: U2 is the best band ever, VOTE FOR U2!
It's all about the letter U and the number 2 ...
